Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I purchased the Heath Moto for my husband, in hopes he would gain appreciation for my love affair with Frye boots. He was impressed with the quality of the leather and the workmanship of this boot, as he always has been with my Fryes. These look sleek and sexy with jeans, not bulky. In reference to sizing the boot runs a bit narrow even in a size 11. My pair of Moto's ran a little narrow as well, but now fit perfectly. Unfortunately, the sole is NOT motorcycle friendly, the tread does not grip the road as a true "biker" boot should. This issue may be cause by the waxy product used to create the distressed look, but more likely the material used on the sole. We will see if the tread roughs up after a few more rides. Hubby may stick with Harley Davidson boots for riding. Still in love with Frye boots and Zappos!

The material appears to be quite good and I loved the smell. I also appreciated the design on the boot and the general style of the toe box, the zipper, the height, etc. However, the sole needs work -- upon closer examination, the heel was starting to separate from the boot on both boots! It was easy to see that the heel quality was lacking. I returned them, sad to say. I may return to the Harness 12R boots -- they appear to be winners all around. These Motos are too much money for what I had in my hands and on my feet.

I got these boots for Christmas from my wife who paid a lot on this site. They fit nice right out of the box. Once they wore in a little I put a small insole in them for padding and support. The white stuff they put on them to make them look worn, makes them look a bit weird. So I just took black shoe polish and dulled them down. Now they look great. I wear them everyday, from out on the range shooting, to jeans and a dinner jacket out at night. They do stand out as far as boots go. I really like them, not sure if I would pay full price for them.

The boots are awesome, look great, and fit well. The only downside which kind of makes me worry is the thickness of leather the boot overall. It seems that the thinness will lead to it loosing shape as they break in and get worn. Time will tell I guess.

This shoe is much more attractive than it appears in the photo. It has a slight powdery look, which I liked. It's not nearly as shiny. It fits like a cowboy boot, so it's very tight to slip on - but comfortable once you get it on. I found it scuffs my wood floors, which is surprising for such an expensive boot. Otherwise, I love em.

These boots are beautiful. Perfectly weathered/distressed already. They fit true to size for me and I find these much more comfortable than past Frye boots I've had. The only thing that slightly concerns me is the leather is thinner/softer than I expected for the money. I hope over time they don't begin to slouch but retain their shape like a stiffer "cowboy" leather does. Of course, this same softness probably makes them more comfortable right out of the box. These boots are awesome. The sole does mark my floors though (again, surprising considering the price tag) but they are non-slip which is good if you ride motorcycles like I do. If this boot was about $100 cheaper I wouldn't have any complaints at all.
