Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I love these boots! One shoe was a little narrow around the pinkie toe but I have a shoe stretcher. The other shoe fit perfectly. I love the soft leather and the different look to them. They look great with my skinny jeans and I am so excited to wear them. They look both dressy and casual.

I have been trying to find a well made substantial short boot with a sole that isn't slick for about 6 months. Frye makes several choices but I really wanted at least a 2 inch heel so this truly limited boots that met my criteria. After trying several different pairs in different brands, I finally stumbled upon these. These boots are HOT! They are super comfortable, easy to get on and off, have great heel height, a shallow tread on the forefoot for grip, and truly live up to the Frye reputation for being extremely well-made. Best of all, I don't feel like I'm walking on a 2 inch plus heel. It's a solid boot that looks incredible. Also, because the toe is squared, it makes my foot look a lot smaller. I normally wear a 9 but had to have an 8 in these so they do run large. Buy them, you won't be disappointed.

The quality is incredible - truly boots for life. The fit was perfect, true to a 7.5. These are stylish and well made and you can dress them up or dress them down. A versatile shoe and well worth the money. Your feet will be happy because they are very comfortable!

Although these aren't as comfortable as most of my Frye boots they are true to size, they have a fairly narrow toebox. Not that great with jeans because the zippers don't go all the way to the top of the boot so they catch on jeans. I thought I would really dig the two zippers on each but it is a bit overkill...my opinion. I still dig 'em.
