Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

These are very cool. I love the color. There was no break in time. They are not too trendy! More classic Frye boots. They are the perfect length I am 5'4" short legs. I do not need to look like a state trooper.

I love these boots! After only two days of wear, they are my second favorite pair of Fryes. Maybe with a bit more breaking-in they will supplant my Frye Maxine Trapuntos (which are so comfortable I even use them for short hikes in the mountains) as my absolute favorites! I have a high arch, so the lack of arch support isn't so great but it does make these boots easy to slip on. I usually wear a 7.5 but I always buy my Fryes in an 8 because I like to have a little wiggle room and the option of wearing thicker socks on cold days. Also, my feet are pretty wide, so the half-size up helps with that. I will say that I had to break these boots in the first day I wore them. They were a tad bit narrow, even with getting a half-size larger boot, but it was as easy as putting on a pair of thick socks soaked with a bit of rubbing alcohol and wearing them around until they dried out. Didn't hurt the boots' finish (I applied to the interior) at all and now they fit like a dream. So, if you have normal feet you can probably get away with your normal size when ordering this boot. If you have wider than average feet, you should probably order a half-size up like I did. If the leather is too tight in some area, just add a little rubbing alcohol on the interior of that portion and wear the shoe until it is dry (this is especially useful for people--like my sister--with wide calves who have a hard time finding uppers that are wide enough to fit). If it is too loose in any portion, you can apply the rubbing alcohol to that bit and NOT wear it until it is dry and this should shrink it up a bit. Good luck and hope you all enjoy these boots as much as I do!

In love! I am a fan of Frye boots anyway. I have 2 pair of the engineer boots and love them as well. These are even more amazing, they are as if you have worn them in already. They have a great worn/vintage look. So comfortable. I ordered an 8 1/2, they fit perfect! Very pleased. I couldn't be happier.

Love these boots! I wasn't sure when I ordered them if the style would suit me. I got them the day after I ordered them and nearly cried when I opened the box. They are beautiful! The vintage/scuffed appearance is substantial and may not be to everyone's liking, but they are so different from my many other Frye boots they are now my favorites. I ordered in my regular Frye size and they feel a bit more roomy than my others, perhaps because of the square toe. The height is perfect on me (I'm 5'4") and do not come all the way up to my knee. They are easy to pull on and off and are extremely high quality. I love that I don't have to worry about scuffing them and because of that they will get much wear!
