Had been looking for both a stylish and warm boot, an alternative to my Hunter's (which aren't warm), and my UGGs, (which are not always appropriate), to take me through the misery of a NYC winter. Saw these and got excited, but wanted to be sure they were fully lined--foot included. Been fooled by semi-lined boots at the same or higher price point. Chatted with Zappos customer service who assured me I was getting what I'd hoped for in a cool boot. They arrived today (thanks to an upgrade), and I could not be more pleased. These boots rock! Great construction, excellent leather and the shearling will not only keep my feet toasty, but comfortable--can't have anything rubbing! Better than UGGs for practicality and style (although the Belcourt model does me good), this boot is a fashionista must-have! Runs a little big and no doubt is a little heavy, but you need support and cushion on your feet, which take a real pounding in the city. Will go with everything and some. Zappos and these boots rule! May get them in brown, too...
Brands I'd also recommend: UGGs Adirondack or Belcourt

These are really nice boots. Ended up finding these on sale and snatched them up. When I opened the box they looked huge! But after trying them on, they fit like my other Frye Harness, a little long, but just right in width. Lovely color, lovely craftsmanship, as always with Frye!
Brands I'd also recommend: Lucchese, Dingo, Durango, Bed Stu, Vintage shoe company

Awesomely warm and comfy, can be worn without socks although I haven't actually done it yet. I wear the same size as I would without the shearling. I am considering another color!

These boots are warm and well made. Shearling covers the entire inner surface of the boot and is very dense compared to Uggs. They are somewhat bulky but are much better looking than other comparably warm, practical winter boots. The boot runs at least half a size long in thin socks or bare feet.

These are great boots, furry and soft inside with a tough exterior. They have a "country" look so they don't go with everything, but look great with jeans. They are a little heavy and after a very long day your feet can get tired. I found my feet getting overly warm once. Most of the time they never get too warm and while everyone else is cold, my feet feel great. Uggs have nothing on these boots!

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Comfy! Comfy! Comfy! I live in San Diego, and I wear these boots all year. They keep my feet and legs the right temperature all day. They look great with everything. I just treated mine with Frye dressing, and even water beaded up on them. Just be aware, they look a bit large because of the shearling.

Oh, it's like walking on clouds! I wear a 7.5/8 and ordered an 8 -- they're huge. I ordered a 7.5 and really hope they fit. I don't want to take these off but they have to go back. Please, Zappos, bring back the 7 (or even better, the Shearling Engineer in black!)

Wow. I'm in the minority. I thought these boots were stiff and uncomfortable. There is a place in the heel where two sections meet that doesn't have shearling, and it's rough and awkward. I also felt as though there was too much forward bend in the boot shaft so that when you stand up straight, there is uncomfortable gapping in the back around the ankle. I didn't want to put myself through breaking them in, so they are going back. Even if I liked them enough to keep them, I'd have had to exchange them for a smaller size. I normally wear a 7.5, purchased this boot in a 7, and would have needed a 6.5 even with thick socks.

This is really nice boot, very comfy. But watch the sizing. I ordered a size 8 which I wear 99% of the time. This boot seemed to be almost a full size too big so I had to return. :( The box did not specify Womens or Mens so perhaps this was a Men's size 8 which would account for the size difference.

Great stylish alternative to Uggs, I work on my feet and walk a lot and sheepskin inside, on top and bottom, keeps my toes from rubbing on a shoe and getting sore. These are almost fully lined except for the heel area on the back. I don't think they have a reflective liner like many Uggs, as they are not as warm as Uggs on the bottom. I order up a half size in a lot of boots, so I can put a sheepskin liner in, but Frye harness bots are roomy by nature, so I ordered my regular size and a, happy with it. The bottom of the heel is a material that wears pretty quickly for me, compared to Uggs or work boots, so its important to put those nailed plastic or metal shoe savers on if you wear them a lot. The soles can always be rebuilt at a good repair shop when you wear the heel and sole down. The tan shearling color is really gorgeous, and darkens up with mink oil to a classic warm medium brown. Lastly, they are made in the USA, and made well.
