Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I have owned these boots for ten years. I have worn them in the Colorado River and in the snow in Michigan. I have been in thick clay and climbed the mountains in them. have worn with shorts; skirts; and tights. Worn them in all seasons. Sexy as all hell. People come up to me in airports and ask about these boots. I got them in less than 24 hours from Zappos. I have never worn them with socks. I love these boots. I am 58 years old. I will treasure these all my life.

These look awesome and are definitely well made... but the fit was horrible... my five year old had to pull on them to help me get them off! Way too narrow. These didn't run big for me at all; they ran small, unfortunately. They will be going back. :(

These are my new favorite boots! They fit true to size. I have slightly wide feet, so it took a few wears to break in but they are super cute and comfortable. They also fit really well on my calves. I have normal size calves, sometimes I find boots either too big or small on my calves but these are perfect!
I'd also recommend: Lucchese

I absolutely love my Frye boots! I have looked at these for a long time. My family bought them for me for my birthday. I wear in between an 8½ and 9, the 8½ fit perfectly. Not too tight anywhere. No break in time at all! It has been a long time since I have worn boots. I put these boots on and wore them all day, so comfortable. Very good looking, soft, well made boots. Of course Zappos is always the best!

These boots are certainly well made and the quality is excellent. But they are not boots to wear all day. They are very heavy boots and your feet are so tired a few hours into wearing them your legs ache. They are stylish and trendy but the heaviness of the weight and the uncomfortable feel is not worth it to me.

These are gorgeous! Love the vintage, antique look. Great fashion piece and just so nice! I went down a full size and half down if that helps.

I can't decide if I love these. The leather is very thick, they are great quality. I wear 10.5 and since they do not sell that size I first ordered 10...my feet went numb. Way too small. So I ordered and 11. They are way too big now. Maybe if they fit better I would like them better. I put insoles in but they are just not that comfortable. Very narrow toe, looks a little funny actually. They are a great quality and a lower price for Frye boots. I own four pairs of Frye boots and I'd say they are my third favorite. I'm keeping them because I do like them and I think they will get cuter as they age...just not sure I'd say love. I ordered tan and it is a perfect color.
