A truly great bootie: stylish, comfortable, a treat to wear. The texture and quality of both the exterior and interior leathers make this boot comparable with much more expensive boots styled by the so-called more elite designers. The platform allows for a high heel that wears almost like a riding boot. Love them.

Beautiful style and great quality. However, despite the platform this boot is too high for me to walk in for extended periods of time. Unfortunately, it has to go back.

These boots are undeniably gorgeous and truly well crafted. They have a high, high heel. I don't generally wears heels so walking around in these boots is exceedingly painful after only a short time. But with time and insoles they might become less of a pain. And they are delicious enough to compensate for their lack of comfort.

I wanted a stylish bootie that was rugged enough for a snowy winter and this is the perfect option! It's very comfortable considering the heel height. I've worn it for hours standing up and my feet feel fine. I was happy there were half sizes available. I'm pretty consistently a 10 but it was not only a little long, it was too wide.

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

With the pointed toe, it felt a bit narrow in the toe box area. Plus, I really don't like the split leather section in the front. You can see whatever socks you are wearing, and it looks funny.

These booties are really cute, but feel very high. If you are like me and have narrow feet and heals they are not for you. They slipped right off of my heel. The leather is rugged and supple though. Very cute!

These were my first pair of boots in a long time. I usually wear an 8, but had to return a pair and went with a 7.5 instead. The shoes go great with lots of outfits. Unfortunately they are a little too high to be wearing all day and not ideal for work. High quality materials though.

First time buying Frye...we have this brand in the stores, but it's always the flat boots, and I love heels. The quality is great, it fits about a half size too big, but I have narrow feet and can wear thicker socks. Great booties!

I had such high expectations for these Frye booties. First, the red color on the website is misleading; it's not a true red. I should have paid attention to the fact that the color is called cognac and not red. Secondly, the slit in the front and the shape of the bootie is not too flattering if the shoe is wore with a skirt or with exposed legs. If you wear jeans and are standing, it looks nice, but as soon as you sit down and the bottom of the jeans rise, the slit in the front of the boot is not sexy, just awkward. If Frye had made the bootie a little higher in the ankle so that it covers the ankle, it could have been more attractive. Sadly, I wanted to like it, but I had to return it.

I LOVE these booties! They are very tall but still VERY comfortable. I usually only wear them with skirts because the 'V' shaped opening looks odd with jeans or pants. The bootie would be more versatile if the top was a regular shape. Also, the wood tip on the bottom of the shoe wears down very fast. The rubber sole should extend further. Other than that these are my new favorite shoes! I receive so many compliments when I wear them!

These booties are even better in person than they look. They are so soft, light, comfortable and versatile! The distressed leather is so cool, as is the v front. Perfect with skinny jeans or boot legs. And best part: I have not seen them anywhere else but Zappos.

Lovely boot, very uncomfortable to walk in. Felt a little like walking on stilts. Front of the boot felt tight, but yet my heel would slip out of the boot when I walked.

I wavered a bit before I bought these because while I loved the look, I thought that there was no way they could possibly be comfortable. I decided to go for it due to Zappos’ awesome return policy. I'm glad I did--if you are used to wearing heels, they really ARE comfortable! I mean, I'm not going to do a full day of city walking in them, but for a date or just a little walking around, they're fine. I wear them with jeans that are a bit on the longer side, so I don't have any of the issues that other people have mentioned about the “v” in the front, which doesn't really bother me anyway. It's hard not to feel sexy when wearing these.

Arg, I really wish I liked these shoes better! They are so pretty and look awesome on, but they're not so comfortable. They seem a little big in the heel, so I added some pads to the ball and it has helped to push my foot back some in the shoe. I am hoping that as I break them in they'll get more comfortable. But if I hadn't worn them out I would probably have returned them.

I had such high hopes for these! Some reviewers praised it as stylish (Yes!) and comfortable (No!). I broke them in for 3 days, put them in stretchers to make more room for the toes, walked the dog, went up and down the stairs and then put them to the ultimate test: a night out in Manhattan. Lots of compliments at first, then the pain was so great I couldn't decide whether standing still or laying on the ground was better. I ended up taking them off and walking in stocking-feet in the subway. Yes, they were that painful. I had 3 large blisters on my toes and thank goodness I brought other boots (and lots of bandaids) to wear the next night because these are going to have to go in the donation pile/trash! So disappointed, I used to have Frye brand boots when I was in HS.

This boot is hot and comfortable for the height. However, it is still too tall to walk around in the city for me. I got the heel shortened 0.5 inches and it is perfect. Definitely worth it and worth the extra money to shorten with a cobbler.
