Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

These boots look great, and feel like they'll last for years. They're a subtle, classic look that look great with jeans and can lend an edge to more formal attire. However, as with all leather boots, you'll have to break them in. When I got them, they were very tight. In fact, I had to get them on by putting a plastic bag under my heel in order to help my foot slide into them, and getting them off again was something of a wrestling match. And, I couldn't wear them for very long without them becoming uncomfortable. However, after a few days they really broke in, and feel extremely comfortable. I wore them from 13 hours straight yesterday and they felt great. Where before I could barely get them on, I now where them with thick socks and they're fine. So, when you get them they'll be tight, but as long as you can get your foot in there and weather the breaking-in period, you'll be fine.

They take a few wears to break in, but after that they are extremely comfortable. The only issue is that the leather insole started to separate after a couple of wears.

Pretty nice boot, I was a bit skeptical at first, but these are growing on me. Surprisingly, these boots get a ton of positive comments and my wife absolutely loves the way they look on me...and she never, and I mean never, likes any clothes I buy. Anyway, these are great for rock stars and guys like that...they work best with boot cut jeans.

Beautiful boot with rich leather uppers and thick but supple leather lining. These are easily dressed up or down with their clean styling. My only gripes are that, like other reviews have pointed out, the insole is peeling back badly and the leather soles seem to wear down quickly. But given that they still smell of new leather (a year later), I'm happy to have them re-soled.
I'd also recommend: LL Bean Signature
