Confused - I normally wear size 8.5, however I have bought shoes in the past that were size 9. I knew that Frye boots run large so I bought size 8 of the suede version of the Emmett boot. To my surprise the size 8 was large for me. My left foot actually shifted around in the zipped up boot and they looked so large it made me feel like a clown wearing them. I returned those and later I tried a size 7.5 (though from a different internet store). The width of that size fit much better, but the length still seemed too long as I had about 1/4 inch of room to spare up front. The size 7.5 fits me no differently than size 8.5 from other shoe makers. I noticed that the Emmett boot is made in Mexico so I wonder if that has anything to do with the strange sizing? Just a thought but it seems that there might not even be a size that will work for some men with small feet. Be warned!

I like the looks and feel of it, but the very first time I wore it, the lining on the bottom inside of the boot peeled back. poor workmanship.

Went through some trouble finally getting the right size. I read other reviews and purchased a half size smaller than my usual size, but it fit at the listed size. Re-ordered in my usual size and couldn't be happier. Fit is great and the look is great with jeans and slacks. Good quality as well.

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Very Nice Looking Boots - They are great looking, not too dressy. I found them to be smaller/narrower than marked (same for the Chelsea version). I probably should've exchanged it for a half size larger, after a couple of days they are still too tight, I'll have the stretched. Other boots I have *look* narrower, but are roomier inside. But if they fit you, they are great, great looking boots.

Wish they had different widths - Definitely was a bit big - my husband usually wears a 10, but should have ordered a 9 or 9.5. He has a narrow foot. These seem great for wide feet.

Looks Nice; Odd Shape - The boot is stylish but very narrow, and the soles are incredibly soft and scuff horribly from even indoor wear. Definitely test them out on carpet only. Usually wear 10.5 but needed 11.

These are awesome boots. Great fit, comfortable and a cool look that has drawn several compliments. Definitely appreciated the advice on size. I'm normally a 10, and the 9.5 fits perfectly.

Great quality boot. You can tell it will last a long time. There is a break-in period; I got a blister or two in the beginning. Worth it for a great boot with quality leather and craftsmanship. Very satisfied with this purchase.

I followed everyone's advice on here and got a 10, when I normally wear a 10½. It fits great, especially for a boot, it is snug but just right. The break in period took only a day or so and I wear them every day now. They are really, really nice boots. They look nice and feel nice. These are hard boots to find in San Francisco, amazingly. I am glad that Zappos carries them!

These are unique because you can dress them up, or dress them down. Traditional craftsmanship and leather soles make you feel like they were built for you. They have a touch of city and a touch of western in them. You will receive compliments for years to come. I have not had them long enough to judge their durability but I suspect with some care they will go a decade plus.

Fab For Feet! I looked far and wide for the perfect boot - not too cowboy, not too middle-aged crisis biker-wannabe, not too leisure suit - and finally found these. Perfect subtle retro mod look, comfortable, great fit and Frye quality. How much better can it get?

These are awesome boots, very mod looking and a great style, looks great with jeans or slacks. I ordered one size larger than normal so I could wear a nice arch support cushion insole. I have a medium foot that easily gets crowded in the foot-box area and these boots were a great fit. It is a pretty lightweight boot compared to the harness style which I sent back because it didn't fit as well and was heavy. These boots fit perfectly for me!

True to size, well made, comfortable, Frye makes my favorite boots. These work as work boots, casual or even more dressy. Careful in the wet and snow; the boots will take on a rougher patina because they are sueded.

This is a very attractive and well made dress boot. I would wear this with my nicest jeans or chinos. Leather uppers are very soft. Pebble-grain texture has just the right about of shine. It felt about 1/2 size too big in the length and heel cup. I would expect them to stretch a bit. I returned it because it lacked a padded insole and I could tell the bottom of my feet would complain after doing any significant walking. Otherwise I would have ordered a smaller-size.

The boot is very comfortable and I recommend it. My only complaint is that, ironically for a boot, initially it did not get great traction -- and was verging on treacherous when wet. However, as the sole wears in, this is getting much better. It is very comfortable and looks great. I initially went with the reviews and got a size larger than normal, but it was way too big, so I would go with your normal size.

I am sorry, I am French, de la France, my written and spoken English is not up to scratch, nobody in restaurants understands my asking for a glass of water... But these boots, oh these boots are superb. Comfortable, the leather quality, the smell of it. And the looks, with a pair of Levi's 527, it is a guaranteed look.
