Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Absolutely gorgeous and incredibly comfortable! I have about a dozen or more pair of Frye boots and this is a must have in your closet!!!! Fryes have different fit for different styles, for me it's always about 1/2 size off. I wear size 7, but almost always order 6 1/2.

I really liked the style and fit of this boot - chunky, casual, authentic - but I got the cognac and it was more orange than I expected and the purposeful aging at the toe and heel was a bit too dark to look natural. I ended up with a Vintage Shoe company shorter boot instead since these 2 seemed like they'd fulfill the same purpose.

I was not very impressed with the suede of these boots. Kinda looked dirty and wrinkled, from when they wet the leather to mar it up and make it look used. The fit was more sleek than the campus and maybe more true to size too. They always run about a half size too big. These were a little big but not as much. Overall, got these on sale because I felt they must be nice to charge regular price. So not worth the regular price!. The suede at least on the pair I got was not very nice at all. I have numerous pairs of Frye boots and these I'm afraid to say do not make the grade.
I'd also recommend: Lucchese < Old Gringo, Ariat

I was really looking for a taller boot, already owning two pair of the Campus style. I got these and they fit perfectly! I have a pretty large calf, but they fit right out of the box. I love the color and the style. I am very pleased with these.
