I just printed out my return label for these boots. They DO NOT look like they cost so much! They're more of a slouch boot and the detailing is barely noticeable. I love Zappos for their easy returns - and when I get my credit I'll be ordering Old Gringos again!

These boots do look like they're worth their price and are great-looking. I had to return my pair because no matter what I tried, the heel just kept slipping. I went so far as to buy $10 thick padded socks and tried many different shoes pads. Regardless, the front was very tight and uncomfortable and the heel slipped too much! I've bought (& returned) probably 50 pairs of boots, trying to find the right ones and so, I think out of all those, I have a pretty good sense of comparison regarding what looks high quality and what does not. These do. Then again, I'm not purchasing $700 boots either. My price range for boots ranges from $200-$450.

Horrible! I can't believe they actually have the nerve to put this product on the shelf and for this price! I usually wear an 8-8.5. I got the 8.5 and could not even come close to getting my foot in the boot. Keep in mind that I very Long and skinny, slim calves. I just had to get at least one on though and 45 min later, sweat, tears and a baby powdered nylon, I did. Ridiculous. The foot bed fit so that was nit the issue. I figured these have to be defective. It was that bad. They were also so tight around my calf that I had a red indent there for hrs not to mention a bruise on the front of my foot for weeks. These need professionally stretched and even then, looked nice but suede was uneven and not smooth on one boot. This must be a bad batch. Someone needs to reevaluate this product!

Fabulous service, and they fit perfect. Granted I have a narrow foot, but the boot is great! Sole a little slippery, but it's new leather. I think the boot is so much richer in person. Although expensive, it looks expensive. Expect to be more comfortable after break in.

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I ordered these boots and they look gorgeous, but I could not get the left one on at all and that is my smaller foot. I ordered a half size larger after reading the reviews and still too tight. I got the right one on but needed help taking it off. I was trapped for two hours with one boot on until my boyfriend came over and struggled to get it off. I love the look but the fit was all wrong.

Beautiful boot, versatile style, but super narrow to put on. I'm going up a size in the hopes I can get my foot down the shaft and into the boot. A zipper on this one would have been ideal.

Got these today and they are beautiful! Fit is perfect, and I have room for thicker socks! I usually wear a size 6.5 and ordered a 7. I got the cognac leather, and could not be happier! I own 5 pair of Frye boots, and they are all built like a tank!

I could not even get my foot in this boot! The shaft is normal size but right at the ankle it narrows down so tightly that it is impossible to get my foot in even using a very thin nylon sock. It is so great looking and I was willing to spend this much but, like other reviewers said, it needs a zipper in order to get your foot into it!

I wear 7 1/2M to 8M. Ordered these in Cognac 8M and had a perfect fit. These are awesome looking boots! Was skeptical about ordering these after reading some reviews but knew Zappos was great to deal with. No worries about getting all my money back, including shipping, if I wasn't happy.
