Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I was amazed at how these boots hugged my feet right out of the box. I'll admit they were a bit stiff at first, but they loosened up considerably after wearing them the first day. I wear these boots to work every day (teaching) and also on the weekends with jeans. This was exactly what I was looking for in a boot. It seems to be very versatile. They also seem to be very well constructed. I look forward to wearing them once they are well broken in.

Nice looking boot, but a little too big (a half size bigger than posted). After wearing them for a week, the stitching came apart. I don't recommend this boot.

I bought these shoes for my 18 year old son. He likes them a lot. He says they fit well and perhaps run a bit larger but not uncomfortably so. He likes them because they go with everything, chinos, jeans, etc. The color is very rich, and although the boot is rugged, it has a classy shape and clean lines. The quality is exceptional, not surprising for Frye. Assuming he is done growing, I'm sure he will have this boot for a long time. Overall, we are very satisfied with the boot, and of course, Zappos never disappoints!

Great shoe and very comfortable, worth every penny. I could wear these the entire day, and they don't hurt my feet. This boot is for casual and normal wear. Having worked in a warehouse before, where shoes take a beating, I wouldn't say it's a per se warehouse work boot, although it feels tough. I had the luxury of trying a different color on in a local store first before buying the color I wanted online. I would have bought them from the store to support local business; however, it would take the store a couple of weeks to get the ones I wanted whereas I received them in 2 days from Zappos.

Like all Frye's - a great boot. Great construction. A little stiff but they like all Frye's get better with wear. I am a firm 10, but had to get a 9.5. They do run a bit big. But Zappos handled the exchange like champs. Zappos is the best! Seriously!
I'd also recommend: Affliction.

Great looking and super comfortable right out of the box. Very high grade pebbled leather gives these rugged boots a subtle hint of high class. There's almost no break-in time, which is rare for a high leather boot. And after a couple months of wear they're really holding up well. Quality construction. Great boots.
