This is a great looking shoe and is very comfortable. After reading other reviews, I ordered a 1/2 size smaller and the fit was perfect! I have this shoe in both silver and gold and wish you would get size 9-1/2 in both black and red. I am trying to wait patiently.

Great flat! This shoe does run narrow, and I have wide feet - usually wear a 6 1/2, so I ordered a 7. It's still a bit long, but with foot pedals on the heel it's a nice fit. Really well made, I live in Manhattan, so I wear my shoes hard, and these have felt great from the start. I am sorry I didn't buy them from Zappos, but they were cheaper on another site! EeeeK! Still love Zappos, and will continue to shop here!

Fit very narrow on my medium width foot! Had to send these back because they were actually too narrow across the widest part of my foot. Wasn't expecting that!! My feet aren't wide, so I don't normally get that. Although this season, Frye is coming out with a lot of great styles that seem to run a bit on the narrow side... so sad!! Cute though, bought the gold and it did look like fabric, which wasn't as rich looking as it could have been.

Very pleased with comfort and look - I tried a couple of different shoes before deciding to spend the money on these (thanks Zappos for the free shipping back and forth!). I was looking for a comfortable shoe that I could wear with a skirt without either killing my feet or looking like I'd just come back from the gym. These shoes are beautiful leather with a calf lining. For a dress shoe they're very comfortable; I wouldn't go for a 5 mile walk in them, but that's to be expected. I have a foot that is wide at the instep and very narrow at the heel, and these work for me.

Run true to size - I ordered these in red and gold in a half size smaller as suggested by the prior reviews. They were too small. I returned them for my true size which fit perfectly. I have several pairs of Frye’s and these run true to size based on my other pairs of Frye’s. The red looks a little glittery, but they are cute. The gold doesn't look like leather; instead it looks like some sort of fabric.

Additional Brand Information

The Frye Company was founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a shoemaker from England. Frye is the oldest continuously operating shoe company in the United States. Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers for both sides of America’s Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-America war, and for Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. Many New England families during the mid and late 1800’s wore Frye boots as they pioneered across the country to the West.

Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.

In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.

The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Ruby slippers - Very comfortable, and adorable. Great everyday shoe for the glamour gal, and pretty enough for a party. Very soft and flexible. Great china doll shape. Runs large, I went for 1/2 size smaller.

Runs a full size large - This is my first FRYE shoe, I am a 7.5 and its a full size too large, I am going to order the 6.5 and see how it goes. The leather is nice/supple/shiny and the shoe is lined with pigskin (faux?). Very nice quality for the price.
