Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Absolutely love these boots. I've searched far and wide for the perfect boot and I truly think I've found it. Well worth the money because they are quality made, neutral (go with just about everything), comfortable and stylish (but won't go out of style). I personally love the fact that the sole is rubber, making it not slippery and very flexible. The leather is so soft and already has that broken in feel. They do seem a bit narrow, but I have fairly narrow feet so it works for me. I know I'll be wearing these for many years to come! Thanks to Zappos for the awesome customer service, fast shipping and easy returns during my quest for the perfect boot!

I couldn't wait for my boots to arrive after I ordered. When I opened the box, they looked better than they did online.... until I put them on. It was a struggle to get my foot into the boot. Once I did, my foot was swimming in them! I wear an 8.5 and all the reviews at the time said they were true to size. No way! I ended up wearing them, with heavier socks, and am now stuck will them. I will never wear these again.

When I received these boots I was disappointed to see that they are not actually made in America, but in Mexico. While I have nothing against Mexico, I was lead to believe that this was an all American Company, including shoe construction. While the overall shoe quality seems really great, the heel of the boot is so wide and loose that my heels move all over. Despite the 9 1/2 length being perfect, the wide heels will not work for me. I will be returning these boots in search of another style and possibly a different brand.

I've had several pairs of Frye boots. All have eventually ended up on eBay or in a consignment shop. These are the boots I want to keep and wear all the time. Comfortable right out of the box. Enough traction on the sole to keep me stable when the walkways gets icy. The sole, however, is not a big lug sole so I'm not clomping around when I wear them indoors. A little bit of slouch suits my casual style. Love them! I wear a 7.5 or 8 and 7.5 works for me in this boot. I am an obsessive reader of customer reviews but rarely write them because I've become superstitious! It seems like the minute I write a positive review something goes wrong. The shoe becomes uncomfortable overnight or falls apart. So, oh, Goddess of Irony, please stop messing with me and allow me to tell everyone what great boots these are.

Remarkable look. Very unremarkable fit. This is the first pair of Frye boots I have tried. Weird fit. Swimming in my usual size 8 1/2. The wide part of the boot did not hit anywhere near the ball of my foot. So sad, but returning these.

I have been wanting these boots ever since I first I got my other pair of Fryes. Although they are tall, they are not as tall as the Paige boots. I must say they are a little hard to put on but am hoping that they will become easier the more often I wear them. They are a tad slouchy but extremely fashionable. I would highly recommend them!
