Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

These boots are beautiful. The color is a smoky cognac color that is bold enough to be an accent but neutral enough to wear with everything. The boots upon first arrival are a bit stiff but I imagine the leather will loosen and relax with time and continued wear. I bought an insert for them for a little bit more comfort but they were not terrible to begin with. They look a little funky with jeans tucked into them because they are a shorter style of boot but they look great with tights and leggings.

This is my first pair of Frye boots and they are amazing. The leather is beautiful, and they are incredibly comfortable. They do run a little narrow, which works for me as I have a narrow foot. Treat yourself to these!

Wow, the leather that this boot is made from is so nice. It's heavy, soft, and luxurious. Felt very comfortable on; I think this boot would last many years. Also, I like that this boot is made in the USA (not all Frye boots are). That said, I plan on returning these boots because they're not quite the style I was looking for. (I'm keeping the Frye Carson Tab short boots.)

I adore these boots. I love the fit and also that they don't pull my socks down like my Frye Harness boots seem to. Very comfortable, well made, and I like the leather sole.

I ordered these in the Dark Brown Antique and they are stunning. There are subtle variations between lighter and darker browns and the overall look is really rich. The leather is unbelievably soft and they were comfortable from the moment I put them on. This is my second pair of Frye boots and there wasn't even a breaking in period for these. I am a true size 7 and ordered that, and these fit perfectly. I like them so much, I'm already looking at getting another pair in black.
