Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Love these shoes! So comfortable - cushy sole, super flexible and very soft gorgeous leather. These definitely run a bit large. All of my Frye boots are 7.5 but I needed a 7 in these. These are cut a bit low on the toe, showing off some toe cleavage which I really like. Overall fabulous shoe - I may have to get another pair.

I really wanted to like these shoes, but unfortunately the fit just didn't work. They are made of a very soft, pliable leather and the sides flare out with every step -- to the point where they nearly fall off. I almost always wear the same size shoe, but these were a half size too large. I don't think that a smaller size would fix the flaring problem, though -- that seems to be entirely due to the material.

These are my go to shoe. When I first got them they were a little tight around my small bunion. But within two days they have stretched. You can defiantly tell and feel the high quality leather.

I'm beginning to dislike Frye shoes. I purchased a pair of Frye James boots this past December, in a size 8.5. They were huge. I figured, okay, Frye shoes run big. I saw these flats and figured that an 8 should be okay, since the 8.5 boots were so large. But the 8 in the flats is too small!

I love this shoe so much that I have it in the red and yellow. My only complaint is that it is extremely slick on the bottom as it is solid leather. I just put some of the sole grippers on the bottoms and no more slipping! I would definitely recommend these if you love quality leather, stylish colors and Frye shoes!
