I bought these boots in black. They are lightweight, high quality, very comfortable and fit perfectly. I am an 8.5 and I got them in a 9 to make room for socks and they are perfect. I would buy my normal size if I didn't want to wear socks. I love them so much, I now have all 3 colors.

I love these boots! From the second I put them on they felt perfect. Leather is so soft and feels like I've been wearing them for years. I think I'm going to get them in another color! Thanks Zappos for always selling such a great selection of boots!

Gorgeous boot in every way, but too loose on my heel. I have wide instep, narrow heels. It sloshed around so much I regretfully returned them. Perhaps I should try 1/2 size smaller.

These boots are great! I bought them because I needed a stylish alternative to sneakers to wear on a recent trip to Europe. This is the only pair of shoes I wore the entire time. They took me from clubbing all night in Berlin to walking for hours through the cobblestone streets of Prague. They were comfortable from the minute I put them on with no break in period needed. They are also easy to get on/off my feet. Sometimes I have trouble getting Frye boots on my feet for at least the first few wears, but these slipped on with no problem.

These are great boots! I love the quality of the leather and the work. However, they fit a bit too large. I'm a size 8 wide and I ordered them in a size 8, even though I usually go half a size up to make up for width. I was expecting a snug fit, but they turned out to be much larger with a nice fitting width. I wear them with thick wool socks. Otherwise, they're really comfortable. Oh, and they're extremely slippery on wet surfaces. It's scary to walk on the subway platform in these. So, I'm getting a rubber sole glued to the bottoms.

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Love these boots. Quality, Quality, Quality. I will have these for years to come. They were comfortable from the first step. I am so glad that I got them, even though they were pretty expensive.

These were just what I needed for fall, a comfortable everyday shoe for jeans and cords; an alternative to dumpy mom clogs. However, the soft leather seems to be growing every day! I added a heel gel insert, but my feet still slosh around. Sure, it's great that they don't hurt or pinch, but I feel like a little kid tromping around in Dad's boots. Now I feel like they're starting to LOOK a size (or two) too big. The roominess of the foot is probably more noticeable because of the wide-style shaft. Slippery too, need to put a little gripper on the sole. Too late to return, too expensive not to use. I guess I'll get thick socks, or pass them to a friend.

Pricey boots and a splurge for me. They were just what I was looking for and I really like them. Very high quality materials! My heel slips a little, but that's common for me with boots and easily solved by inserts. I do recommend these boots.

These shortie boots are exactly what I wanted. I ordered my true size and they fit perfectly. They look great with boot cut pants or skinny jeans tucked in. They have a Western look, but not over the top like most cowboy boots. I can wear them walking the dog through wet grass and they not only keep my feet dry, but they dry quickly and look brand new. They are worth the price. Go for it!

These boots are beautiful and extremely comfortable. The leather is so soft that they don\'t even really need to be broken in. They are expensive, but if they hold up well I\'ll be a happy camper. Beautiful beautiful leather.

Although these boots are expensive, they are worth it. They are well-made, entirely of leather. The leather lining is important to me as my feet overheat in synthetic material. I work standing and walking all day in my Carson Shorties, and the heel is great for my back. I initially ordered an 8 (I wear an 8) based on the other reviews, but returned the boots for a 7.5, which fits perfectly, even with thicker socks. This is my second pair of Frye boots, I wish I owned more pairs! Order a half size smaller and be happy.

I wanted a sturdy ankle boot to wear under my slim/straight leg jeans and these boots are perfect. I wanted a boot with a cowboy boot type heel, but without the pointy toe. These have a slight round shape toe, so they are a good blend between a cowboy boot and a biker boot. They seemed a bit pricey at first, but they are totally worth it; the leather is really great quality and the boots are very well made (like all Frye boots). They were super comfortable right out of the box; a touch roomy in my size, but I added a cushioned insole and now they are perfect! I wear them all the time. Love them!

I love these Frye Boots! The color is even more rich than pictured on-line. They are the most comfortable pair of boots I have ever owned. I received numerous compliments the first day that I wore them! The reviews and testimonials with regard to ordering a 1/2 size smaller than my size were "right on!" I would highly recommend the "Carson Shorty." They look great with jeans. This was money well spent! "Zappos" customer service and free shipping/returns cannot be beat!

Just got these boots today and really love them! Really soft leather, great fit, super comfortable. Love the color, not quite grey, almost like a taupe color. I usually wear 7 1/2 or 8, got these in 7 1/2 and they fit perfect. I highly recommend them.

I originally bought a size 7 (my usual shoe size) but it was quite large. The size 6.5 is perfect. I wanted a pair of booties that were comfortable, stylish, and durable, and these boots are perfect. I wear them with skinny jeans and leggings, out shopping in Soho, grocery shopping, and even to the park with my little boy...

I am a size 7 1/2 and took the advice of another customer on these boots and sized down. I\'m glad I did, as they are still a little long, but with a thickish sock they fit perfectly and comfortably. Frye does cut these narrow, so if your foot is wide I would recommend staying true to your size. Overall, I love them and they look every bit as good on as they do on the internet.

Ordered two colors of this boot and absolutely love them! As other reviewers have stated, they feel like 'butter'! Super comfy in the soles and everywhere else the leather touches my feet! Love! They also do tend to run a little big and since I am a 5.5 I am unable to go down a size, but find that in boots I can usually get away with a 1/2 size larger. If you are considering this product, get them. You will not regret it!

These boots are great. So comfortable and I love the color. They go effortlessly with blacks and browns. I was surprised on how big they run. I usually am a size 7 or even 7.5 but in these beautiies I took a 6.5. The leather is a bit distressed and one of the markings was right on the top of the foot which I didn\'t like so I had to return it again for an unmarked pair. Also, my heel slips minimally which I was initially concerned about.

A bit expensive but very cool. I love these boots. They run a bit large so had to exchange for 1/2 size smaller than usual, and still plenty roomy for thick socks. I receive lots of compliments. As comfortable as any pair of cowboy boots (since my feet are happiest in thick wedges, I can't give these a high comfort rating).
