Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I tried these on; got them from another site before they were available here. My take was that they were (1) tight; (2) were too casual to wear with skirts, (3) with jeans I'd rather wear Frye boots. Comfort-wise, besides running tight (maybe they'd stretch because they're suede?), they were too high for me, a teacher who does a lot of walking and stair-climbing. No inner platform to lessen the difference from heel to toe. In the size ten, the heel height measured closer to four inches. I returned mine. When it comes to fit, it seems like Frye has a split personality - the sizes are either very generous (Carsons) or tight (these and others this fall). And why does no one make a 10.5? Elevens are too big. I'd like to read others' experiences with tight Fryes....do they stretch over time?

Another great purchase by Frye. I bought the taupe/gray color very neutral goes with everything. Frye usually runs true to size, ordered in my normal 5.5 and they fit great. Very comfortable can wear all day. Price is a bit steep but the shoe is worth it.
I'd also recommend: Cole Haan, Nine West, Enzo, Steve Madden, Franco Sarto

Love the style and neutral color of this shoe, kinda gray/taupe. Pretty high heel on this one, but it is wearable all day.

I had been searching for some fall/winter wedges and these are perfect. They're hip, on-trend and look great with skinny jeans, boot-cut jeans, and wide-leg trouser pants that I wear to work. With the right outfit, they could even be worn with tights and a skirt! These were a great purchase! Based on an earlier review stating these run small, I ordered both my size and a half size up. I went with my normal size. They do not run small, in my opinion. However, if you're going to wear thick socks with them, then I suppose they would run small. I tried them on with thin trouser type of socks, and they were perfect!
I'd also recommend: L.A.M.B., Burberry, Michael Kors
