Very nice, especially for Frye boots, which I generally find clunky. This one actually fit my calves, as well, even without adjusting the laces. However, I'm going to return it--I don't want this tall a shaft and for this price, it has to be perfect.

I love these! After ordering many different styles of Frye, I have finally found the one that works for me. I really wanted riding boots but I needed a little bit of a heel. Also, I like that these boots can be scrunched down a little which is very flattering on the calf. There is plenty of room in the calf. I can wear them to work with a skirt or dress as well as on the weekends with leggings or skinny jeans. I am so excited to finally find the Fryes for me!

These are awesome shoes, but they look even better in reality. They're very comfortable, and any Frye boots will last you a lifetime, no joke. If the heels or soles get worn down just have resoled, and they will look like new.

These Frye boots are perfect in every way! They are great with skinny jeans as well as casual dresses and skirts. I am 5' and the shaft height and width is perfect, since this is often a problem with having short legs. They are comfortable and pretty true to size. I usually wear 5½ - 6 and I ordered a 6. I wear them comfortably with mid-weight socks. The width is actually somewhat adjustable with the lace back which is a great feature and stylish, too. The quality is excellent and I know I will have these for years to come!

First off Zappos was truley amazing on my boot hunt. Before I returned one pair the other pair would arrive. Hello customer service. After 3 pairs of fryes these ones fit perfectly. I have larger calfs and these go over skinny jeans perfectly. In fact they have already stretched out a bit so they fit even better. I was able to walk forever in them and they were more than comfortable. Fully recommend these gorgeous boots.

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

These are beautiful high quality boots. Comfortable too. Unfortunately, I want to wear them with jeans and not tucked in so I'm returning them. They have plenty of room to tuck, but look weird with the jeans worn over the boot, as there is quite a bit of room so it bulks out the jeans. Very nice boots though-I am reordering another style.

These are beautiful, comfortable boots! I have average sized calves, and these are a little bit loose around them, but in a good way - they actually make my legs look more slender. I got the dark brown ones and they are a gorgeous color, will go with may different outfits - skirts, jeans, etc. This is my first pair of Frye boots - I have wanted to buy a pair for a while and was lucky enough to snag these on sale. I have another pair of boots but they are essentially flat, and I really wanted nice riding boots, but with a heel. These are fantastic. They are obviously of great quality, a great purchase especially at the sale price! Thanks, Zappos.

I wanted to keep these--I love everything about them except for the shaft of the boot, it is very slouchy. I have athletic calves and usually boots are pretty tight in that area, these were so huge I felt like I was wearing fire boots, but the most beautiful and comfy fire boots ever. I am so heartbroken that I have to return these, the shaft of the boot is just too slouchy and not what I am looking for in a new pair of boots.

These boots smell like heaven, first of all. The workmanship is outstanding. Those people at Frye know how to make you fall in love. When I put them on out of the box I was convinced they were a full size too small and that I would have to send them back. After doing some research, I realize now that this stiffness is normal and even after wearing them around the house for a couple hours they loosened up quite a bit. I've heard that if it feels perfect out of the box they'll be too big later. I'm a 6.5 and I bought the 6.5. I have 14.5 calves and these are perfect for over skinny jeans or with skirts (both long and short). Note: they are not tight around the calf or the ankle. The lace can be tightened but unless your calves are epic you should plan on these brushing your leg but not hugging it. The dark brown color is similar to a red kidney bean and goes with almost everything. It's not a chocolate brown. Wearing the boots reminds me of Danskos in that there's no cushion but you don't necessarily want any, either. I work at a standing desk and these last me all day. One last note: I usually buy wide shoes and these are not wide. My left foot was literally in pain until the leather warmed up. So, if you're not willing to wait it out and maybe go get the toe box stretched, then these aren't for you.

Just got this boots and they're amazing. Have wanted a pair of Frye boots forever and finally found some where the shaft is not too high. Had them on for over 8 hours 1st day I wore them and there was no problem, they are very comfortable. This are not fitted boots, the shaft is looser, so if your looking for a tighter shaft these aren't the ones. Totally recommend them.

Loved the fit except for the shaft of the boot, Guess my legs are way too skinny because there are 3 inches of too much leather at the top.

These boots are really cute. They run true to size, I wear 7-7.5 and the 7 fit perfect with my narrow foot. The shaft comes almost to the knee, and I was looking for something a little lower, plus there seems to be a bend in the leather near my right ankle that was quite uncomfortable when I walked. As much as I was hoping to love these boots, they sadly have to go back.
