I lusted over these boots for weeks before I decided to take the plunge and order them. I got them in Clay, which is a really beautiful color. However, when they arrived I was a little let down. The cuff looked really bulky on my leg and the boot was a little slouchy around the ankle, it was not at all slimming. I have larger calves too and these just barely fit. I know that the dimensions say 15.5 circumference but I really think that measurement may be off, or maybe it is just the way the boot is shaped but they hardly fit up over my calves. Also, I know you can't tell from the pictures and video, but the cuff does flip up. That is why it is a 20-inch shaft height in the description, I am going to contact Zappos because they are actually a 15 inch shaft height with it flipped-down which I think is how most people wear it. By the way, when I did flip the cuff up I looked so ridiculous...I looked like a farmer ready to muck stalls. Nothing against farmers, but as I am not one, I didn't want to look like one. I still gave the boot 4 stars because I think it is extremely well made and the craftsmanship is flawless, the beef I had with these was really all personal preference. Sadly, these were not for me and will be going back.

The style is very interesting and kind of a hip, funky look. Initially the cuff seemed to be a bit bulky but it does relax when it's folded just right. The boot is well made and leather is beautiful. I like the campus boot because it's very comfortable. The shaft height is 15 inches with the cuff folded down. I can fit my skinny jeans into the boots and it's fitted but still fine. Seems to be a slimmer shaft than the regular campus style. Shipping was unbelievably fast!

Showstopper! I was wary of color: Clay color is more vivid / darker than appears on-line. It looks almost ivory on-line, but in person, it's basically a neutral Camel. Exact same basic boot as the regular Campus. But with 1 major problem: Where the regular Campus boot stops just under the calf muscle, this one comes up higher - over the calf muscle - and is painfully tight on my (large) leg. My calf measures 16.5" around at it's widest. Anyone 15.5" or less calf muscle measurement should be okay! Loved it, but couldn't wear it. Had to return.

These boots are insane! You may be hesitant because of the price, but you get what you pay for! The leather is gorgeous & the wooden heel is beautiful. It's time to go to sleep & all I want to do is wear my boots! I can also flip the fold up, but I'm 5'10. The only downside is they're a little difficult to slip into at first, but once you're in them, you'll never want to take them off! I love them!

These boots run 1/2 size large and are so awesome! I love them! I rocked them the first night I wore them. I wore them up, instead of down, the way I prefer. I got so many compliments. The leather is amazing, worth every cent. I highly recommend Frye boots! My first pair, just be sure to order 1/2 smaller! I think they have moderate to excellent arch support. They're not running shoes so you're not going to get a great arch support, but I rallied in my boots all night with no problems. They're awesome!

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I am 5'7 and this boot comes approximately 1 inch under my knee with the boot cuffed. The boot covers my knee if I uncuff it. I bought the clay color, which is a lovely cream color, a little darker than it appears in the pic above. The boot was almost impossible for me to get on by myself the first day I wore it. My husband had to push the boots onto my feet because the heel would not fit in. But since I read below that they get easier to put on as the boot gets more worn-in, when I put them on today, my husband only had to help me put one boot on. I just got home from work and took them off and tried to put them on by myself, and I was able to put both boots on myself. So don't give up if it's hard to get these on at first. They are so pretty that I was determined to make them work! The quality is superb, as are all Frye boots. I plan to wear them a very long time.

These boots are amazing. I was a bit concerned about what size to get because people mentioned that the needed a half size smaller. But I went with my gut and got true to size and they fit perfectly. I had no problems getting them on and the only stipulation with removal is that I need to be sitting. They look amazing. Thank you!

These are awesome boots, but if you are thin, look out - they are huge! I feel dwarfed! I look like a giant pair of boots with a little person sticking out of them. And I am not a stick. I am 5'6" and vary between 115 and 120 pounds. These boots are gorgeous, but really for a much taller, larger woman. They are super huge at the ankles especially, and then I could stick a whole fist between my calf and the boot. I can see why they are expensive, they are beautiful and full of gorgeous leather, but note my dimensions and if you are at all my size, look for different boots.

These are beautiful boots. They were on sale so I bought them in both sunrise and banana. Both are great, unique colors. They are not ones that really fit in with an outfit, but rather create a unique look all on their own! I am usually an 8½, and a 9 in boots. I tried the 8½ and they felt tight across the foot and was really hard to get on. I tried the 9 and that size is great with a thin insole, which also makes them more comfortable. I agree with another reviewer that they are not in any way dainty boots. They are definitely bigger all over, but that just adds to the unique look. I do have slim 13" calves and they fit them nicely so they would not look ridiculous with tights. I am 5'8" and 135 pounds. My only concern is keeping these lighter colored boots clean.

I love these boots!!!! I am 5'7" and 160 lbs. with around 14.5" calves. If you get these, buy a half or whole size smaller. They don't have half sizes in 10 or 11. I normally wear a size 11 in any shoe. Not with Frye. I have tried two other styles of Frye boots in a size 11 before going with the Campus OTK in a size 10. The width and size is perfect. I have no arches in my foot, so the little to no arch support is great for me. This boot is slimmer fitting and looking than the Sabrina. This boot slid on like a glove. No work needed. Although I am used to a pair of 30 year old, dried out square toe, pull-on boots I have been wearing. However, this boot fits my foot perfectly. The saddle color looks way better in person than in the photo. It will age perfectly. I bought a couple of month's ago a man's saddle colored, wide belt from a store in the mall. I was playing dress-up today with my new boots. Let me tell you... a pair of Ann Taylor slim jeans, the belt and a crisp, white oxford with the collar popped and my Michael Kors bag and I am in business. No doubt about it, this boot can be utilitarian and classic chic. I am looking to have these for a long time. With the quality and color of the leather, they will only get better with age. Oh, and Zappos rocks! I ordered these boots last night at 11pm and they arrived this afternoon. Oh, and thanks to all the past reviewers of this product and other Frye products. They really helped me narrow down my search.

I got these in banana (geaux tigers). I'm 5'/125 with muscular calves. They fit fine over my calves, but the actual boot is a 1/2 size too big. With the flap up, they are just over the top of my knee cap, so if you are tall, beware! They are a little loose at the ankles, but it looks fine because they are taller.

I love these! The footbed fits generously - perfect for my wide foot. Regrets, the shaft is too narrow for my 16.5" calf. But, I am overweight, and hoping that with weight-loss (in progress), my calves will shrink & I'll be able to wear these stunning beauties! Absolutely gorgeous, well-constructed, timeless, wearable/beautiful boot. It's not Frye's fault I'm too fat! I measured, these are max. 15.5 circumference at widest point/top (right at the top, just under where the foldover leather splits in back). So, my calf must shrink an inch + to wear these, I do have quite a lot of weight to lose, & am confident that I'll be wearing these non-stop soon. Even when I'm thin, my calves are muscular though. So this review is mainly intended to caution prospective buyers, measure your (widest) calf circumference 1st - If you are 15.5" or less, I think (?) these will fit you okay. If you are 16", literally, you will not be able to pull the boot shaft up on your calf, it will stay scrunched down on your ankle. My size is 10. The shoe part is generously sized - plenty of room for a heavy sock, I maybe could have gone with a 9.5 (all my 10-12 pair of Frye's are Women's size 9.5 & 10.) Heel is perfect. I think this is basically a taller (higher on leg) version of the classic "Campus" boot, with a fold-over shaft. I have a lot of "Banana" color Frye's, so I got this in "Clay", which is a gorgeous, neutral, light Camel color (in-person). Happy boot shopping!

These boots are great. Slipped right on with minimal break in required and sturdy leather and perfect proportions. They hit me right at the top of my knee (I am 5-8) uncuffed and the only way to wear them. Slim fitting jeans are recommended to show them off. I got these in Saddle and Clay I like them so much. Create a stir no matter where I am.

Love these boots, they are wonderful. The fit is exact size for the footbed. The only problem is they are a monster to get on when they are new. I can't return them, love them too much. I am hoping that as they soften up and wear in a bit they will be easier to pull on. A skinny leg jean is necessary for sure.

Love! These are my first Frye boots. I almost returned them because of the tight calf problem. My calves measure 14.75 inches and these were painful, left a red mark around my calf. I wore them around the house and after a day noticed they had loosened quite a bit. After four days of wearing them off and on I don't even notice a tightness anymore. The leather is quite pliable. The soles are very slippery because they are a traditional, smooth sole. Be careful until you have scuffed them up.

I received these at the same time as receiving the Shirley Over-The-Knee and Jane Cuffs. I liked that I could compare rider/cuff style boots. What appealed to me initially about the Campus OTK is the funky all-purpose look to them. Something durable that I wouldn't be afraid of wearing out. But there is no comparison - these ones are a fail. As a long time Frye buyer with almost 20 pairs I know Frye quality, and most of the time I am very pleased with what I receive (hence the almost 20 pairs). For these, unfortunately, I could not say the same. I am an 8.5 in every Frye I own. When I initially held these they looked a little clunky (which I'm okay with - I don't have a set style) and large so I thought I would more than easily be able to get them on. However, both my heel and my instep could not get past that final bottom area to slip in. No matter how hard I pushed and what I wore to make it easier to slip my foot in (pantyhose, a thin sock etc) my foot would not go down. A 9 would have made my foot go in, but the chunkiness of the boot would not have looked complimentary to my outfit or my legs. I pulled up the cuff to see what it looked like that way but there was just something not right about the whole look of the boot. They seem more "gumboots/rainboots/wellingtons" to me rather than a day to day, over-the-jeans, all-purpose boot and I think this also contributes to why I would put these last out of the three I purchased. One positive for the Campus OTK is that it is a less expensive option for a long cuff boot, but realistically these just have no "wow" factor on any level.

These are beautiful boots! I bought the grey, and the leather is so pretty - slightly darker than the picture, a pretty silver tone. I'm so excited these went on sale. I was worried that the height of them would be too much for my 5'2" frame, but I think they're just fine. They come right below the knee when cuffed, but that doesn't bother me. I won't wear these on a regular basis until fall, but I can't wait as I think they will match so much.

With fast service, I only had to wait 3 days to get them in the mail! I was so excited, I left work early! These boots are beautiful! They are exactly my style, but unfortunately they are being sent back today. These boots are very narrow at the foot. I ordered B-medium in an 8 1/2 like I normally wear after reading all the reviews on ordering a size smaller. I would say to order a 1/2 to 1 size larger. The top of the boot was rather tight as well, but I believe with a couple good wears in, they would stretch to fit your calf better. I will not hesitate to order from Zappos again, I will just make sure to read all the review and make a better judgment decision in the future! Can't wait to find the perfect Fryes!
