Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Absolutely love these mules! I typically wear a 7 or 7.5 and ended up buying 7's.

I hate to do this, because these boots are a work of art. Unbelievably thick leather, beautifully crafted, they and go with everything. But they are downright painful to walk in. Each shoe weighs 1.5 lbs. I believe the sole is made of wood. The toe is narrow, and the heel is loose (I have a medium foot--pretty average). Even after inserting the most expensive gel inserts, my shins and feet ache after walking only a small bit around the office. I still wear them because they are gorgeous. But then I have to put them away for at least a week to let my feet and lower leg bones recover.

Mine just arrived! Absolutely love them, sitting here with them on my feet and I'm all giddy inside. They are incredibly comfortable and almost feel custom tailored. I have fallen arches and wide feet and these are amazingly comfortable and cute at the same time. Just might have to purchase another pair in one of the browns. Highly recommend!

Hesitated buying these because I already own so many other clogs and mules. Seven years later, I'm still wearing them. They have worked well with my wide feet.

Love these low boots that look like real ones without the hassle of pulling them on! Bought my first pair of brown ones at Dillard's in Santa Fe, NM back in 2008 and still wear them. Really needed something for black dominated outfits as that is my new favorite clothing color. I agree with many other posters who have described these boots as a work of art. They are so beautiful you almost don't want to wear them! Also agree that they feel heavy at first, but you really do get used to them quickly. Finally, agree that they feel slightly wider than the size ordered. Overall, love these boots!

Love these! I have a pair of Frye Engineer boots that are my faves, and I have ogled these for quite some time. I could not be happier, they fit right off the bat whereas my full size boot was a bit slim until I stretched them out. They are really stable too. I have an ankle that easily rolls and these feel great! And they are just totally sassy and wonderful!

I have not worn this out yet, but tried them on last night and they felt great. They are true to size, in fact they were a tiny bit big without socks. Definitely cannot be worn with shorts/skirts, but perfect with jeans and dress pants. Looks like you are wearing a cute boot. Love them!
