Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Look good, but very uncomfortable - These books look great. However they are extremely uncomfortable. I live in a city and I routinely walk a few miles a day. These boots become unbearable after walking just a few *blocks*. I thought they might get better after some break-in, but several miles of walking did not improve matters much. I have had other boots, like the Timberland Torrence Chelsea, that are nearly as comfortable as walking shoes are. These boots are so uncomfortable that it would even be hard to walk across a shopping mall in them. A big disappointment, especially for the big bucks that they cost.

The Frye boot is exemplary. True to size and gorgeous! Everything else is a poor copy of a classic harness boot! My partner loved receiving these boots for Christmas. They were ordered on the 23 of December and were wrapped and under the tree before anyone knew that I forgot Christmas was on my door step! Zappos to the rescue once again! Zappos has saved my procrastinating butt more than I can say! Returning items is as easy as ordering them. Thank you Zappos! No other online store is as accommodating.

These by far are the finest, and most compfortable boots of this type that I have ever worn! Right out of the box they fit like they had been tailored for me. I have had these boots since 2004 and they look as good as the day I put them on. And the compliments I get as to the boots are numerous. They are well worth the purchase price. And shipping was great also, I ordered one afternoon and they were delivered the next afternoon...can't ask for anything better than that! In ending: BUY THEM!

Great pair of boots. They run a little large, but inserts and thicker socks will take care of that. Excellent workmanship; a really solid boot. My son loves them!!

Frye boots are great and I love mine. The leather is a real man's leather. the first time I wore them after I got them was to the barber shot and a guy got out of his chair to come ask me where I got them. The fit is right and comfortable, and you know you are wearing a real pair of boots. This is a case of you get more than what you pay for. If you want a great pair of boots, get Frye.
