The Alexis boot is my third pair of Fryes. I also own the Paige and Carmen 14L Inside Zip. This is my first pair of Fryes that is a tad uncomfortable due to the heel height. The boot also fits a bit tighter than my others, but not enough to size up. I ordered the Burnt Red and am very pleased with the color and quality and happy with my purchase.

I love these boots! They are like walking on pillows. I bought them in black and the chunky heel makes them very easy to walk in. I am usually not a chunky heel person but I think these boots pull it off well. The leather is very, very good quality (Frye, of course!) and I think that if paired with a cute outfit, with a girly piece (lacy blouse, or something like that) you can balance out the cowboy boot, chunky look of this boot. I have fairly skinny calves, and narrow feet so I can wear a pretty thick sock with these boots. I think if you have wider calves and normal/wide feet you should have no problem with these boots because I have more than enough room.

How did these beautiful boots ever make it to sale?! I don't know, but I'm so glad they did! I am no stranger to Fryes, but even so, these are gorgeous. The leather is thick and substantial, yet soft; and while the heel is pretty high, it is stacked so it is quite stable and comfortable, esp. with the round toe. The fit is true to size (with socks, as I wear them) and the calf is pretty generous (I have 16 inch calves, and they are snug, but they fit)! So grab them while you can--you won't be disappointed!

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.
