Well crafted shoe- Five Ten made its mark with its climbing shoes. It's good to see that their technology and quality has followed into their other lines. I've owned some of the best brands, Vasque, Asolo and mid range brands such as Merrell. Five Ten's all terrain Insight are one of the best shoes out there. It has excellent fit with great support and comfort. Their rubber compound soles give you awesome traction on any surface. It's a great looking shoe too. It's perfect for running around in the back country or the city Overall, a great value for the $$$.

Brands I'd also recommend: Merrell Chameleon II Stretch

Good fit. I bought the same size as what I wear in a Nike sneaker. And they fit great. I wore them around the city to break them in. Not too stiff, but they don't cushion impact as well as sneakers. The Merrell Chameleon's are much more sneakerish...the 5.10's have more toe protection, and overall support. Much better for day-hikes, and trail use. But for around town, I'd stick with the Merrells.

Brands I'd also recommend: Merrel Chameleon. Lowe, Vasque, Montrail, Nike.

Everyday shoe - I love the look and the fit of the shoe. They go very well with cargo shorts etc. I use them as an everyday kind of shoe, from little league to flag football, shopping and walking trails. They go everywhere with comfort and style, except in the house. These bad boys leave black marks, which is a real shame as I am not usually a take your shoes off at the door kind of guy, but with this shoe, you have to if you have hard surface flooring.

Five Ten Insight - Very comfortable shoe right out of the box. It runs a1/2 size small but the width is right on. The heel cup is very nice, secure but not tight. Lighter than I expected and I love the stealth sole. Great traction and a good solid feel on the ground. I bought this shoe to do light duty hiking off-road and in town waling and it's going to work great.

Ouch! They're too small! Out of the box, these shoes are even more gorgeous than they appear in pictures. The leather/rubber finishing on the shoe is top-notch, making this a very sturdy-feeling piece of footwear. So... imagine my supreme disappointment when I tried these on only to find out that they feel almost a full size *too small*. For the record, I wear a size 13 (47 EUR). These shoes felt like 12s. In all my years buying shoes, I have never--not once--tried on a 13 shoe (athletic or otherwise) that was too small. I even tried thinner socks. No go. Different insoles? The size 13 insoles from all my other shoes were also *too small*--by at least a full size. Now what? Return these and order a 14? Do they even make a 14?

Five Ten Inspired by the impossible

A family owned company, 5.10 (also known as Five Ten) has stood at the forefront of fine craftsmanship, high-performance and fashion forward technical designs within the outdoor industry since 1985. Born with a rich rock climbing heritage, 5.10 is known worldwide for the high-quality, fit and friction of their shoes, where footwear can make the difference between success and failure. Today, they continue to bring their climbing heritage to all of their products, as well as exciting innovation, quality craftsmanship and unmatched durability. Climbers, kayakers, mountain bikers, hikers, trail runners, canyoneers, and everyone else who wants technical/fashionable outdoor footwear depend on 5.10 for safety, state-of-the-art innovation, and out-of-the-box comfort.

As a huge climbing enthusiast, Charles Cole, founder and President of 5.10, knows that a good grip on a well-made shoe means everything. Determined to create a better rubber to make climbing easier, Charles developed Stealth© rubber soles, which increase the amount of body weight the rubber could bear before its bond broke away from the rock. By merely purchasing a new shoe, climbers could better climb with a sure-footed grip. Pushing the envelope even further, Cole continues to expand 5.10 soles even further with Stealth© S1, Stealth© C4, Stealth© HF (high friction), Stealth© Amphibia (water compatible), and Stealth© ONYXX, which provides 25% more friction and is twice as durable as any other climbing rubber available.

Stealth© rubber was just the tip of the iceberg for Cole and 5.10. Responsible for today's modern rock shoe design, Cole invented a plethora of firsts which include: the first sling shot rand, the first down-turned last, the first heel wedge to cushion impact, adding pull tabs on both climbing and approach shoes, baseball stitching to alleviate hot spots, graded midsoles to adjust the shoe's flexibility to different weights, the first self-draining water shoe and the first ankle to toe lacing on an approach shoe to allow for a performance custom fit. Throughout the years, there have been various 5.10 innovations, and in the years yet to come, their dedication will lead to many more.

As the shoe-of-choice for the world's top climbers, 5.10 is 100% committed to innovation and performance. All of their unique footwear designs have been produced with one goal in mind: to do what is best for outdoor sports athletes who use 5.10 shoes. From hiking to paddling to mountain biking, recreational and expert athletes alike know that Five Ten means more than footwear- Five Ten shoes are essential equipment for adventure. Rest assured that 5.10 is working hard on next season's models and that they will be bringing something wild, new and exciting into the world of adventure sports.

Five Ten Where unique comfort, durability and technological advances combine to create the best footwear in the world.

Tight in Forefoot - I like Five-Ten shoes and love my Camp Fours. But my warning to future buyers of the Insight is that the forefoot feels cramped, and I think it is the last, not an incorrect size. I normally wear a 9.5, but my Five-Ten Camp Fours are a perfect fit in size 10 so I assumed the same would hold true for the Insight. I was wrong. I don't want to risk exchanging them for a 10.5 because I fear they may feel too big other than in the forefoot so I am wearing a light sock and hoping the leather will stretch. Otherwise, great sticky sole, and a solid, supportive. Well built shoe.

I've been wearing these shoes daily for about 4 months now. Currently, I've decided to look for a different pair of everyday shoes, and use these strictly for hiking and mountain biking, which they excel at. They soles are VERY grippy, as expected. Personally, I have been feeling this in my knees from inadvertently twisting my leg every now and again. The shoe will not give before your knee. This might just be my problem though. The footbed is also very thin, and I've been trying out different insoles for more comfort. There is very little arch-support. The upper isn't rock solid-I could see it wearing out from a couple years of wear. Not a hiking shoe that will last an extended period of time. They do look great, with jeans and shorts especially. And they are good for mountain biking, which is the main reason I bought 'em. It would also be nice if they were waterproof, but that's another thing I knew when I bought them. My next pair of shoes will be my first pair of Merrells; I hear they are quite comfortable.

Great approach shoe for slabs. Sticky rubber really grips the rock. Insole is really thin and about useless so you need to beef that up. Not for hiking with a big load, but for things like the Snake Dike approach and the long scramble to the top it was perfect.
