The best free ride shoe - This is the rebirth of the Intense MTB shoe (that was made by 5-10 ), only new, improved and way better. More comfortable and better fitting. Easier to tie tight... Same sticky rubber sole that is perfect for flat pedals. This shoe rocks. Buy two pair so you'll have some when they stop making these.

A dependable shoes from 5.10 once again - Okay so maybe they're not the best walking shoes, but you can wear the whole day and feel fine. They're very comfortable and that sole, it will stick to anything I swear. 5.10's gripper soles are so amazing! Anyway, this shoes is great all around. It comes down to this, sure it doesn't do anything perfect, but it does everything well. That's this shoe, good use all around for when you ever know what you'll be up to. Maybe bike riding, a quick hike, some football or just kicking around town.

MTB - These things are the moon boots of MTB shoes, they are poofy & ugly, but soooooo comfortable to ride in. I free ride through a lot of rugged lava desert terrain and those times when I have to climb off and carry my bike these guys outsoles give me uber traction!!! Sweet shoes overall. LAVA HARVESTER MTB TEAM

Brands I'd also recommend: try some Sette products if your an SPD kind of person, Vans are the best for me though

High Performance High Top - I've been looking for a good set of high tops, or any set of high tops for a while... I was very pleased when I discovered the 5 10s... I purchased these for trials riding, and dirt jump riding. I needed grip and ankle support .I got that and more! I also got great comfort, style and finally a high top. A high top that over achieves in every aspect. I also like the side entry of these; it helps keep the tongue aligned which I think helps the great comfort level, and protective qualities of the shoe while keeping it relatively light. My pair virtually fit perfect, I myself am between sizes (10.5 - 11) so I ordered the 11s. The soles grip very well so well in fact that they will mark tile or linoleum floors if you don't watch how you step. I think I'm going to get some more of these...

Brands I'd also recommend: This is the only game in town, for high tops.

Sticky soles! Stiff enough to be supportive platforms for pedaling, but not so stiff as to make walking uncomfortable. The stealth rubber on the soles is very sticky--almost too sticky, as it makes it tough to realign your feet on the pedals. Plenty of protection for the ankles, too.

Five Ten Inspired by the impossible

A family owned company, 5.10 (also known as Five Ten) has stood at the forefront of fine craftsmanship, high-performance and fashion forward technical designs within the outdoor industry since 1985. Born with a rich rock climbing heritage, 5.10 is known worldwide for the high-quality, fit and friction of their shoes, where footwear can make the difference between success and failure. Today, they continue to bring their climbing heritage to all of their products, as well as exciting innovation, quality craftsmanship and unmatched durability. Climbers, kayakers, mountain bikers, hikers, trail runners, canyoneers, and everyone else who wants technical/fashionable outdoor footwear depend on 5.10 for safety, state-of-the-art innovation, and out-of-the-box comfort.

As a huge climbing enthusiast, Charles Cole, founder and President of 5.10, knows that a good grip on a well-made shoe means everything. Determined to create a better rubber to make climbing easier, Charles developed Stealth© rubber soles, which increase the amount of body weight the rubber could bear before its bond broke away from the rock. By merely purchasing a new shoe, climbers could better climb with a sure-footed grip. Pushing the envelope even further, Cole continues to expand 5.10 soles even further with Stealth© S1, Stealth© C4, Stealth© HF (high friction), Stealth© Amphibia (water compatible), and Stealth© ONYXX, which provides 25% more friction and is twice as durable as any other climbing rubber available.

Stealth© rubber was just the tip of the iceberg for Cole and 5.10. Responsible for today's modern rock shoe design, Cole invented a plethora of firsts which include: the first sling shot rand, the first down-turned last, the first heel wedge to cushion impact, adding pull tabs on both climbing and approach shoes, baseball stitching to alleviate hot spots, graded midsoles to adjust the shoe's flexibility to different weights, the first self-draining water shoe and the first ankle to toe lacing on an approach shoe to allow for a performance custom fit. Throughout the years, there have been various 5.10 innovations, and in the years yet to come, their dedication will lead to many more.

As the shoe-of-choice for the world's top climbers, 5.10 is 100% committed to innovation and performance. All of their unique footwear designs have been produced with one goal in mind: to do what is best for outdoor sports athletes who use 5.10 shoes. From hiking to paddling to mountain biking, recreational and expert athletes alike know that Five Ten means more than footwear- Five Ten shoes are essential equipment for adventure. Rest assured that 5.10 is working hard on next season's models and that they will be bringing something wild, new and exciting into the world of adventure sports.

Five Ten Where unique comfort, durability and technological advances combine to create the best footwear in the world.

Great free ride shoe! These are the best free ride shoes for platform pedals. They are so sticky, it's like you're clipped in, but like regular shoes if you need to step off and bail. Best of both worlds. And the high version is great for protecting the ankle bones. Only complaint is that they don't make 12 1/2 anymore. 13 is OK, but 12 1/2 was perfect.

Brands I'd also recommend: the low version is the same rubber - also top notch

These shoes are well worth the money. They fit like a glove right out of the box. I was a little concerned about getting a high top. I was surprised to see that the tongue opens to the side. You don't have to rip your heel off to get in and out of these shoes! They're the best shoes I've ever worn!!

Brands I'd also recommend: another pair of Five Ten's

Great downhill shoe - Great support and traction. And you can't go wrong with black. If you have narrow feet, consider ordering a narrower width shoe...if they make it, I don't know if they do. I ordered a medium with 9.5 (what I usually wear) and those were a little large so I went with medium width 9s and those fit much better. Don't be afraid to order and send back if you get the wrong size. Zappos makes it very easy!

I bought the Impact Mid to try as a uniform duty boot. They are well padded and so far have been comfortable for the 12 hour shifts I work. The laces tend to sneak over the top of the padded tongue when tied and I have been using a knot with a bow over it. I ordered a 1/2 size up and I think this is about right. They are built rugged as are most 5.10 shoes and should hold up well. The stealth rubber sole is not as sticky as some of their models but should wear well. They have reflective parts and I blacked these out for uniform use. In the fall an Urban Enforcer should be available which is this shoe only in all black with no reflective areas. It is more of a Nubuck style. They should also be a hit with officers.

I bought these shoes specifically for DH on my mountain bike to use on platform pedals. I'm in my early 40's so I was interested in comfort and how well they function more than anything else. They came very quick from Zappos, fit very well right out of the box and looked good. I was thankful they produce these in predominately basic black, because I wasn't interested in some crazy, wild color scheme. They are very comfortable to walk around in off the bike. They feel great on my feet and give great traction on the pedals. They are easy to get on and off for high tops. I like the height of them, if for no other reason, than I feel more secure in regards to my ankles when on the bike than lower shoes like my Cannondales. I bought these on both recommendations of my riding buddy (who owns a pair himself and is my age) and from what I read on the net. I would highly recommend them and Zappos. I feel they are a fair value for the money and I would buy another pair in a heartbeat when I wear these out.

I purchased these shoes for mountain unicycling (muni) and wasn't disappointed. Too stiff for freestyle but very secure for downhill and trials riding. My BMX friends love them too! Perhaps a bit heavy for some. I usually wear size 11 but the 12's fit me better. Wide enough for older feet.

First of all Zappos is the best place to shop online for shoes & other stuff! Fast shipping & Great service! These shoes have so much going for them, comfortable, good padding (ready out of the box, no insole needed). The rubber is amazing! I hike & these shoes don't slip til the ragged edge. Great traction on the pedal too! Not as flexible as the Vans SK8 Hi, but makes up for it in comfort & strength. Thanks.

Absolutely love them. Bought them to ride with, decided to break them in at work, where I am on my feet 8 hours a day, and was very pleasantly surprised to find out that they are about the most comfortable shoes I have worn for work in many years. I've had more time working in them than I have riding in them.

I've been looking for a shoe that can handle the wear and tear of disc golf...Yes, disc golf! Boy have I found them! After playing many of rounds with these shoes. They still look and feel great. One of the big problems finding a durable disc golf shoe. Is that the area around the toe will wear through and the sole start to peel away from the midsole. After a year and many rounds there has been none of this. The Stealth rubber is fantastic on cement teepads. No slipping or sliding even if the teepads are wet. The ankle area is well padded and protect your ankle from rolling over if you happen to step on twigs or branches. The shoe is very rigid at first, but it soon became very comfortable. My only concern is they might be too sticky for rubber teepads, but I haven't had the chance to try them out. I've gone through many a shoe playing disc golf. These are by far the best shoe I've ever played in. Heck, after a year. They are still going strong.
