Excellent shoe! The "navy" choice is really more like purple, but I like it. Highly recommended.

First of all.... Five ten shoes make what is called a "true fit". that means you measure your foot from heal to toe and order that number.... I used to where etnies, vans, and other various types of those shoes... and because of the fluff in them I'd always get a full size or half size bigger.... I didn't have a local shop that sold them so I ordered online and got 10's (bigger then my foot) instead of 9 1/2 because I thought, "oh sure, true fit's, whatever" and surprise.... I had to send 'em back and get 9 1/2's, the actual size of my foot. Order the actual size of your foot. not what you wear in other shoe sizes, ok? also, I have read a few reviews the say the shoes are wide.... well, they are wider if you have a narrow foot!!!!!! again... when you figure out the size of your foot, pay attention to the width.... these are truly a Medium width. and my right foot is 9 1/2, D wide (or medium width). Fun fact for those who don't think about it... your dominant side of your body is always almost just a slightest degree larger so you always want to fit to the dominant side, in this case my right even though I measured both feet to make sure, and guess what? these fit perfectly!!! better then any shoe I have ever owned. if you have high arches these don't have high arches you may need arch support fit into them. I have relatively flat right foot (broke an ankle and apparently the doctor casted too tight, reshaped my foot a little.... derp....) and my left foot has got some arch but not a high arch. these shoes work really fine for both feet and I can walk on them for a day at the park and feel comfortable all day... You should know, that these Five Ten's and the "impacts" model, which are even stiffer, are relatively stiff compared to other shoes when you first get them... (i mean, they are made that way on purpose because they are a purpose built shoe for riding Freeride and Downhill bicycles and they are made to connect to the pedal and then add support to the foot as your whole foot doesn't sit on the pedal, so keep that in mind) after a week or two of riding or like 3 or 4 week of light walking around they soften up some and feel really natural to slip into and and run around in riding or walking. These are fairly rugged shoes.... they really can take a beating. I have several pairs that i decided to use for summer construction because they were comfortable and tough and i didn't feel like buying more boots before classes started for 3 months of work. I've had a pair that i decided to buy specifically for walking' around in and have had them for three years with just a little riding on them. again, these shoes are made to be survivable so the price is good since you can get long use out of them. I only buy new pairs cause the old ones get turned into work shoes and playing' in the dirt shoes and keep the new ones for looking' nice when in the city. You will not want these shoes for any gym floor use.... Five Ten created mostly climbing shoes at first as a company and there "stealth Rubber" is what is used in climbing shoes originally, because of this soft rubber you have some of the most amazing grip on rocks and such... that same rubber is used in their bicycling shoes. part of it's grip come from that rubber and how it's made. it's very soft so it will rub of on gem floors with the littlest of effort expended. Great for sticking to pedals for this reason. ok.... there you have it. Five ten is a comfortable, high quality, purpose built shoe. It's a "true fit" brand. I love 'em. haven't owned anything different for years. But they are appropriate for my feet more then anything and I like the heavier, tough, rugged feeling they have.

Absolutely fabulous for use with studded, flat pedals. Just as secure as clip less and whole lot more practical for city riding. My foot simply does not move around and fun factor is increased.

Started out a little tight across top of foot but have broken in great. I bought them to bike in the soggy cold of tn mountains. They work great almost to sticky if that is possible. I love them so much I have ended up wearing them as my work shoe on wet days and bike in them every time.

I'd also recommend: Astral for summer, light and airy with stealth bottom
