I have 4 years specifically training Parkour. I have worn every Parkour specific shoe out there so far. The rubber is stickier on all surfaces compared to the free runner shoe. It is more durable all around. Extremely bad side: I really dislike how stiff the shoes are, even after a week or two of breaking in. The free runner shoes were stiff, but at least they broke in. I think this had to do with the sole wrapping around the sides; which provides durability but hurts flexibility. For some reason, after 2 weeks of running in this shoe. I developed an MCL irritaion in my right knee. I believe it has something to do with these shoes. I'm going to hold off wearing them for a few weeks. I'll start wearing them for a short period after I heal.

I'm a little new to Parkour. The rubber is very sticky. Really helpful with wall runs. The biggest downside is how inflexible it is. My previous shoe was a trail runner and it was a huge switch. Although the stiffness is good for stability, it felt like i was wearing boots rather than a performance shoe. I have a natural ability to adapt though so I adjusted to it and now it's just as easy to use as my other shoes. I don't regret buying them at all.

The shoes worked great! I got them and that same night went free running and could tell an immediate difference in my abilities. I would recommend these to any free runner or Parkour athlete.

Comfortable enough to wear all day, but stiff enough to wear for the casual mountain bike ride. Great fit for a foot a little wider in the forefoot but narrower in the heel. Really happy with these.

Nice except quite narrow in forefoot. I wanted to return mine but had tossed the box. Also, soles are so hard you make a clomping noise.

About Five Ten
A family owned company, 5.10 (also known as Five Ten) has stood at the forefront of fine craftsmanship, high-performance and fashion forward technical designs within the outdoor industry since 1985. Born with a rich rock climbing heritage, 5.10 is known worldwide for the high-quality, fit and friction of their shoes, where footwear can make the difference between success and failure. Today, they continue to bring their climbing heritage to all of their products, as well as exciting innovation, quality craftsmanship and unmatched durability. Climbers, kayakers, mountain bikers, hikers, trail runners, canyoneers, and everyone else who wants technical/fashionable outdoor footwear depend on 5.10 for safety, state-of-the-art innovation, and out-of-the-box comfort.
As a huge climbing enthusiast, Charles Cole, founder and President of 5.10, knows that a good grip on a well-made shoe means everything. Determined to create a better rubber to make climbing easier, Charles developed Stealth© rubber soles, which increase the amount of body weight the rubber could bear before its bond broke away from the rock. By merely purchasing a new shoe, climbers could better climb with a sure-footed grip. Pushing the envelope even further, Cole continues to expand 5.10 soles even further with Stealth© S1, Stealth© C4, Stealth© HF (high friction), Stealth© Amphibia (water compatible), and Stealth© ONYXX, which provides 25% more friction and is twice as durable as any other climbing rubber available.
Stealth© rubber was just the tip of the iceberg for Cole and 5.10. Responsible for today's modern rock shoe design, Cole invented a plethora of firsts which include: the first sling shot rand, the first down-turned last, the first heel wedge to cushion impact, adding pull tabs on both climbing and approach shoes, baseball stitching to alleviate hot spots, graded midsoles to adjust the shoe's flexibility to different weights, the first self-draining water shoe and the first ankle to toe lacing on an approach shoe to allow for a performance custom fit. Throughout the years, there have been various 5.10 innovations, and in the years yet to come, their dedication will lead to many more.
As the shoe-of-choice for the world's top climbers, 5.10 is 100% committed to innovation and performance. All of their unique footwear designs have been produced with one goal in mind: to do what is best for outdoor sports athletes who use 5.10 shoes. From hiking to paddling to mountain biking, recreational and expert athletes alike know that Five Ten means more than footwear- Five Ten shoes are essential equipment for adventure. Rest assured that 5.10 is working hard on next season's models and that they will be bringing something wild, new and exciting into the world of adventure sports.
Five Ten Where unique comfort, durability and technological advances combine to create the best footwear in the world.

I purchased these to serve as my mountain biking and commuting shoes. They stick really well to the pedals; so much so that I can pull on the upstroke. They needed about a week of breaking in, though. Now, they are quite comfortable.

Considered for Parkour. Good tread that is all one peice. Bad contour in front of heel for my foot (to keep foot back). They are well made and have good foot protection.

Wow, very sticky sole...meaning you get a really good grip on the surface you are on. I read other reviews before I purchased mine and have to agree on the downside that they are pretty "clompy" loud. I have only had my shoes for a short period and hope they break in soon. Right now feeling a bit stiff and box-like. Now I don't mean to sound negative and I really hope they will become one of my favorite parkour/ freerunning shoes as are my K-Swiss and Vibram Fivefinger KSO's. So far though they are not. I waited for about a year for Zappos.com to carry them so I could try them without a big risk. I love this company's return/exchange policy. I do like them enough not to be returning them, and since they are not cheap I guess that speaks for itself.
Brands I'd also recommend: vibram fivefinger kso's(for minimalist runners) k-swiss(just search for freerunning/parkour)

Got this in a 1/2 size larger than my regular shoes, and is way too narrow in the forefoot. Great shoe otherwise, but my toes started to go numb after wearing these for about 20 minutes around the house. The next size up would most likely be too long, so they must go back. Very disappointing.

They have excellent traction, but are not flexible and heavy. They also have absolutely no arch support... although I guess that's what you should expect from free-running shoes.

This is my second pair of shoes from 5.10 (the others being Camp Fours) and they're just as awesome. The sole is super sticky, they are great for cycling in as well. They also look fantastic. Love these shoes, and Zappos shipped them super fast!

Very sturdy, very well constructed. Awesome grip. They feel like climbing shoes mixed with running shoes. My only complaint is that they don't breathe well and my feet get really hot in them.

These shoes are a bit difficult to review. Very well built, obviously designed to be treated harshly. Excellent grip on anything I've attempted to put my feet on. Great shock absorption; does not require an additional insole. Yet almost every strength seems to have a weakness associated with it. The sturdy build makes the shoe feel a bit bulky. I've grown accustomed to light runners that almost disappear on my feet, so I really feel them. The shoes are fairly light in actual weight, just bulky. Grippy rubber sole makes the shoe loud. Added shock absorption means they're stiff, making them poor shoes to actually run in. Ok in sprint bursts, no good for any sort of sustained running. Too stiff. I tend to practice parkour more than I freerun. 5-star freerunning shoe. Great for hard landings, tough precisions and catching bars. Like foot armor, almost. Not so great for actual parkour, which requires an added level of agility and physical efficiency that this shoe cannot provide. No bend at the toes, which causes me to think about my approach, rather that react. I prefer my F-lites for pure parkour. Still love the 5-10's and use them accordingly. Best shoes for walls. Great for trying new stuff. Your feet feel safe with them on. Also, I got them a half size bigger since the toe box is a bit narrow. Hope I help.
Brands I'd also recommend: Inov-8 f-lite 230, New balance MR 10
