Excellent - Wider than portrayed, but this is just what I needed, excellent traction with the Stealth rubber, and its slightly chubby look speaks the truth of the stability in these shoes. Feel lighter than they truly are and very agile and comfortable. Definitely recommended to any serious outdoorsmen...

A BACKPACKERS DREAM!! Camp 4 is a rugged shoe with a heel cage for added rear-foot support and stability. A hiker’s dream too!! It is light enough for everyday wear, but extremely rugged--an alternative to heavy, clumsy leather hiking boots. Stealth rubber soles provide the best friction on any terrain.

I was a little nervous trying these shoes sight unseen, and not trying them on first. I am comfortable with 5-10's sizing due to owning another pair of them. I was very happy with the look and feel of the Camp Four. They are comfortable enough to wear all day. I did a little scrambling, and found they stick nearly as well as my rock shoes. Cannot wait to see how they handle a day on the trail.

Camp Four Rocks! I have been hiking for years and stopped for a while. Recently I started back at it and was in the need for some new shoes. I wasn't excited about a pair of boots and had read a review on the Camp Four by Five Ten. As an alternative to boots. I also looked at some other brands and it came down to the Camp Four and a pair from Patagonia. I wore the Camp Four for a long hike and was very happy with them. Plenty of ankle support over all very comfortable. Most of all kept my feet warm and dry and in the North West, that is important. The Camp Four are all that and a bag of chips.

A design that works - In one of the few instances where the hype mirrors reality, the Camp Four is right on. It does what Five Ten says it does, and does it well. The design of the 'cage' around the heel does a great job stabilizing the foot on even rough terrain; the 'rocker panel' in the mid-sole eases fatigue by transitioning to a solid toe off. It doesn't replace a high top for true ankle support in tough terrain, but does as good a job as a low cut hiking shoe I have ever seen. Five Ten's soles are the best made on any hiking shoe, regardless of brand. It outperforms Vibram and other soles; it's sticky, even in wet terrain. A neat mix of cushion, tougher toeing, and soft protection without losing grip at all. Five Ten has it all together. I wish they would make a lightweight high top for heavy duty backpacking.

About Five Ten
A family owned company, 5.10 (also known as Five Ten) has stood at the forefront of fine craftsmanship, high-performance and fashion forward technical designs within the outdoor industry since 1985. Born with a rich rock climbing heritage, 5.10 is known worldwide for the high-quality, fit and friction of their shoes, where footwear can make the difference between success and failure. Today, they continue to bring their climbing heritage to all of their products, as well as exciting innovation, quality craftsmanship and unmatched durability. Climbers, kayakers, mountain bikers, hikers, trail runners, canyoneers, and everyone else who wants technical/fashionable outdoor footwear depend on 5.10 for safety, state-of-the-art innovation, and out-of-the-box comfort.
As a huge climbing enthusiast, Charles Cole, founder and President of 5.10, knows that a good grip on a well-made shoe means everything. Determined to create a better rubber to make climbing easier, Charles developed Stealth© rubber soles, which increase the amount of body weight the rubber could bear before its bond broke away from the rock. By merely purchasing a new shoe, climbers could better climb with a sure-footed grip. Pushing the envelope even further, Cole continues to expand 5.10 soles even further with Stealth© S1, Stealth© C4, Stealth© HF (high friction), Stealth© Amphibia (water compatible), and Stealth© ONYXX, which provides 25% more friction and is twice as durable as any other climbing rubber available.
Stealth© rubber was just the tip of the iceberg for Cole and 5.10. Responsible for today's modern rock shoe design, Cole invented a plethora of firsts which include: the first sling shot rand, the first down-turned last, the first heel wedge to cushion impact, adding pull tabs on both climbing and approach shoes, baseball stitching to alleviate hot spots, graded midsoles to adjust the shoe's flexibility to different weights, the first self-draining water shoe and the first ankle to toe lacing on an approach shoe to allow for a performance custom fit. Throughout the years, there have been various 5.10 innovations, and in the years yet to come, their dedication will lead to many more.
As the shoe-of-choice for the world's top climbers, 5.10 is 100% committed to innovation and performance. All of their unique footwear designs have been produced with one goal in mind: to do what is best for outdoor sports athletes who use 5.10 shoes. From hiking to paddling to mountain biking, recreational and expert athletes alike know that Five Ten means more than footwear- Five Ten shoes are essential equipment for adventure. Rest assured that 5.10 is working hard on next season's models and that they will be bringing something wild, new and exciting into the world of adventure sports.
Five Ten Where unique comfort, durability and technological advances combine to create the best footwear in the world.

A step up - I was hesitant to try the Camp Four after a disappointing experience with the Prodigy. What a pleasant surprise. The foot bed and sole are the same – good spring, excellent stick – but where the Prodigy’s uppers were flimsy, the Camp Four has structure thanks to the sturdy heel rand. It actually feels like a boot as opposed to a shoe and keeps my ankles upright. There’s also ample padding on the tongue – something the Prodigy lacked – which provides a snug comfort when the shoe is laced up tight. As with the Prodigy, the sole is super sticky and flexes in the right spots while providing good support and spring. And no more of that ugly bumble bee look. A bit wide in the heel, but the lacing allows for compensation.

Approach shoe NOT - Five Ten advertises this shoe as an approach shoe. While the rubber is sticky, the sole has more of a running shoe profile - wider than it needs to be (sticks out beyond the edge of the foot) which leads to instability on uneven terrain. CAN'T RECOMMEND AS AN APPROACH SHOE.

Nice! All I can say is WOW. These shoes fit perfectly. The size couldn't be more exact. You can really feel the tackiness of the soles on any surface. They’re like a boot shaped like a shoe and they look and feel much better than I expected. From now on I will only buy Five Ten shoes. Great all around shoe. I highly recommend.

Satisfaction guaranteed - I was looking for something to replace my old Garmonts, so I tried their Eclipse II (or XCR?) - But they're way too clunky for my comfort level. These Camp 4s are just freakin awesome. The lace pattern is great for casual knocking around as well as tightened up for serious hoofing and I haven't found a condition in which the dual-rubber sole doesn't shine. Great comfort, awesome traction ... this shoe is a winner. I should probably order another pair for when this pair wears out...

Great shoes - I needed a shoe that could help me keep up with my dogs, scrambling over slippery beach boulders and logs and rough trails. These Camp Fours do that nicely. I really like the comfortable fit and the appearance. The sticky soles really hold well and the heel cage adds stability and protection on less than trustworthy surfaces.

Excellent product! Not only are these shoes the best pair of semi-approach shoes I've had since my old-school Montrail Hurricanes, but Zappos blew me away with their service. I ordered these at 1:00 a.m. one night over the Christmas holiday and they were on the porch the next day by noon! Are you kidding me! I was stoked. The shoe is sturdy and tacky...can't wait to get it out on some boulders. I'm super picky about shoes since I have flat feet. That said I'd buy this shoe again given the chance. Cheers!

Camp Four - This is a great shoe. I actually do wear it on approaches and have found it to wear well and the rubber sticks to everything. However I typically wear a ten and a half but purchased a ten and it fits perfect.

Best shoe - This is the best shoe I have ever owned! I have trouble with lower back pain and have shoe inserts that I have to wear. But with this shoe I need no inserts, the arch support is amazing. The support in the heel is also great. These shoes have excellent grip for free-running, climbing or just everyday use. It is light and comfortable like a running shoe, but also has the support of a boot. Zappos has excellent customer service and the shipping is very FAST!

Great comfort - This is a comfortable shoe and very stable. Downsides are that it's a little beefy for an approach shoe and the stealth rubber wears out super quick. If you have the money, it's a sweet ride!

You Gotta Wear them in - Great Shoe sticks to everything. Perfect for bouldering, mild rock climbing and pakour. These shoes did take a few days to get worn in but after that they are amazing. REMEBER: WIll MARK UP ANY FLOOR AND IS A PAIN TO REMOVE SCUFFS.

All signs point to a winner - I'd give the shoe 5's across the board, but they arrived with blemishes on them that just shouldn't be present on a pair of shoes that are positioned as 510 is. Colorbleed and gluesmears - not to cool. But hey, they fit great and wear well and I do love them for that. Heel cup system is tasty for me. Extra eyelet/expanded control on toe-box is also quite tasty for me. My first pair of 510 shoes, probably not my last but the craftsmanship is a bit of a buzz kill- hope they wear well.

Great hiking shoe for rocky trails - I use this shoe for day hikes on rocky trails and they work wonderfully. The fit is as good as it gets, which for me is a bit of an anomaly, and makes hiking over rocks great as there is no unnecessary heal lift on the ascent or toe mashing on the way down. I wasn't overly sure of the whole "external heel cage" concept at first but have found it to work very well; there really is a great deal of support on these. This is the first shoe I've been able to wear on rocky trails; in the past I've always used some sort of light boot to get the extra support (I broke my right ankle years ago and since then have wanted the extra support now for anything with a pack on) but find these to work well even with a daypack. The rubber sole is standard 5.10: very sticky and grippy, which on rocky trails, is great. About the only thing they're missing is an eVENT or XCR lining (or other flavor) to handle the wet weather as the soles definitely handle wet rocks. Even with this they're still great for me; we typically have great weather for day hiking so if the lack of the waterproof breathable liner isn't huge. Overall, these work great for day hikes on the rocky stuff.
