It was time for me to "level up" with my climbing shoes. I had been using all-day-comfort shoes with practically no turndown. I wanted a more technical shoe to help me with bouldering. I tried several shoes before settling on the Anasazis. I felt that of all the more technical shoes these were the most comfortable, had a great level of stickiness and fit my feet well. I'm a woman with narrow feet and long toes but my feet are too large for most women's shoes. For men's shoes these are not too wide and the toe box fits me well. The heel has a little extra room in it but it doesn't seem to move when I heel-hook. The break-in period on these wasn't too bad. I tried three different sizes and went with a size 10 (I normally wear a street size of 11-12 in women's and 10.5 in mens). I did end up with some bruises on my big toes but nothing terrible. These have made a huge difference for me with bouldering as well as sport climbing. I definitely recommend them!

I have been climbing the Sierra region (mainly Tahoe, but also Bishop area) in these shoes for almost a year now. I think they are, for the most part, awesome shoes with a few limitations. First, the good: these guys manage to strike a great balance between edging power while maintaining good sensitivity and super-stickiness on the most egregious little slight dish shapes that substitute for footholds on a lot of the egg-shaped boulders around here. I mainly climb sport routes in the 10a-11c/d range and do not do a lot of super steep routes, so the degree to which I can hook and pull with my toe with these is just fine - I do not need more downturn to the toe. The bad? The Velcro closure strap is back far enough that, once they start to soften up you cannot make the toe any tighter. Also, to be frank, the fit on the heel and heel hooking is just adequate, but that might just be my foot shape. I wear a 10½ street, a 9½ in the Anasazi. They do not stretch much but do shape to your foot a bit. The rest of the climbing shoes in my sizable collection are now just collecting garage dust since I got these.

I'd also recommend: la sportiva
