Gorgeous all-purpose boot. First, as usual, Zappos gives the best and fastest service in the land. Now for the boots. They're good looking enough to dress up, and casual enough to dress down. They have a gel bubble inside under the heel that is quite comfortable. The inside of the leg surprised me with how soft it was. Heel height is great, and it takes a lot of effort to make my feet hurt in these. Regarding size: After all of the reviews I read, I bought a 1/2 size larger than my usual size, and that's exactly how they fit, a 1/2 size too large. It's a comfortable fit on my calves, not too loose not too tight. But I've got more room than preferred around my ankles and feet. Since my size is now sold out, I've decided to keep these since I usually wear thick socks with boots anyway. I'm an average-sized woman, but I do have smaller than average bones with narrow feet, which could attribute to the extra room. So if you have larger calves and ankles, go with the 1/2 size up. But if you're smaller and/or have smaller bones, seriously go with your normal size. The non-slip surface on the bottom of the boot is wonderful. The width of the heel is thin enough to be stylish, but wide enough to make walking in them a breeze. About an inch taller would have been nice, but I'm 5'8" tall, with long legs, so folks shorter than I shouldn't have any issue. I would definitely recommend these boots for style and comfort. In this economy, I almost never spend this much for shoes (even boots). But I'm glad I made the investment this time!
