Initially it was a little uncomfortable because of the gel pad in the heel, but once broken in, it was fairly comfortable.

The black color on the inside lining rubs off on your feet and hoisery and leaves a black mark on your foot and heel.

I bought these shoes in December, 2010. After 4 months of use the cushion silicon-based pad just broke inside. It was spread inside the shoe around my sock and I was walking unevenly since the cushion kind-off lift the shoe from the inside. Pros: Comfortable. Sturdy out sole. Cons: Silicon-based cushion pad wobbles as you walk. Lack of arch support.

If you try a size smaller, these might feel alright. I ordered 3 different shoes to compare to, and this is the 1 pair I sent back. Just had no desire, and they weren't quite "stand out" enough, to go to the trouble of swapping them for another try. Overall a nice shoe though. And I have bought other Fitzwells before. Just start out with a smaller size.
