I bought the Tarmac 28 to replace my old Eagle Creek 28 that I had for years and loved. I used the new suitcase on a 3 week European trip. On the 2nd flight of the trip one of the securing straps was ripped off. I love the suitcase design but the quality must be much lower than my previous bag that I took on hundreds of flights with no problems.

I've been a life-long world traveler (famous for overpacking though). I've tried plastic compression bags, ziplocs, canvas bags, and now for the first time - a full set of Eagle Creek cubes and 1/2 cubes. They are amazing and the best thing on the market. The Specter brand is so lightweight, soft and quiet (no more rustling of plastic compression bags to disturb my husband in the hotel room). My local store only had luminous green and white, so I put my dirty clothes in one green bag, and my night clothes in the other green bag. Two different white cubes held every day clothes - one cube for 5-6 rolled up cotton tops and one cube for 3-4 pairs of rolled up cotton capri pants. I had one more cube to hold nicer clothes and a sweater. Half cubes easily held a week's worth of undergarments and socks each, with room to spare. They made packing and re-packing easy on a busy European trip where we were on the move every 2-3 days.

I have had for a long time a similar smaller Switchback from Eagle Creek with excellent results, and having the bigger one now a bit more stylish seemed like the smart thing to do, which it is. It is practical, good looking, and very tough on the road.

Just returned from a short trip to Hawaii. Packed clothing in these compression cubes and stuffed in a 25L backpack -- fabulous! Cubes are ultra light yet kept everything in place. Great purchase!

I have been trying out my pillow to prepare for my upcoming 10+ hour plane ride. It is very comfortable and gives great support. I picked it over the other kinds offered because you can transform it into a square pillow, which will be perfect for laying against the window area. Has a handy snapping strip that can be attached to the handle of your luggage. Would like a removable cover to be able to wash it, but since it is a convertible, it isn't a big deal.

Short version: It's 23 inches tall, tough to pack, doesn't stand up well, but has one awesome handle. So let's break down the above, shall we. First, the height. The linear inches may make it technically meet many airlines' carry-on guidelines, but being 23 inches tall means that it may not fit into the the size checker thingy if an overzealous gate attendant decides to give you a hard time. Also, I expect a bag labeled as "22" to, you know, actually be 22 inches tall. Second, being tough to pack. I expect that this is the nature of duffel style carry-on bags (of which this is my first one), but I was surprised at how difficult it was to pack this bag. I just returned from a trip and took everything from my current carry-on bag and stuffed it into the Flatbed to check its size. Despite Eagle Creek claiming significantly more cubic inches in this bag versus similar competitive bags it was tough to fit everything in (FYI - EC claims 3,020 cubic inches for this bag while most competitors claim between 2,300 and 2,700). That said, I left some unused space in the bag that I could have filled by reaching in and stuffing things around the side of the opening. Basically, having an opening that is not the size of the face of the bag means that you will struggle to fill up every part of the bag unless you take a lot of care (and time) with your packing. Also, when the Flatbed was filled to the brim the opening was much more difficult to close than a standard bag's opening would be. Third, not standing up well. I think that this is another unavoidable aspect of being a soft-sided duffel style bag, but the bag was much less steady than my current bag when standing. I think Eagle Creek did the best that they could by using a very firm material for the back and bottom (orientation = standing) but it just wasn't enough. I slide loops in my "extra item" backpack down the extendable handle so that I am wheeling both items when I am walking anywhere with a decently flat surface. I noticed that when I did this with the fully packed Flatbed that it had a concerning tendency to lean forward, and that just a little nudge from me would knock of over. My current bag is Gibraltar in comparison. Fourth, the handle. Oh, that wonderful handle. Why couldn't I have this handle on my current bag? It's wide and thick so that it fits in my hand well, and it extends a solid three inches above my current bag's highest extension. I'm 6'3" tall, and until I tried the Flatbed I had not realized that there could be a carry-on life that did not involve me slightly stooping while rolling my bag. I am now fully focused on finding a more traditional style of carry-on bag that has such a high reaching handle! I forgot to measure the height of the handle before I sent it back to Zappos, but a comment on another site puts it at 46 inches from the ground. Awesome! Fourth-1/2, the other handles. Well, the other handles are just plain awful. Eagle Creek really failed with the fabric top and side handles by stitching them straight down the middle so that they cut into your hand when you pick up the bag. It's tough to describe this in words, but what Eagle Creek should have down is fold the fabric halfway in from each side and then stitch them so that the handles are flat when you pick them up. Look at the front and back handles on the Marmot Long Hauler duffel bag for a good example of how to properly stitch fabric handles.

I absolutely love this purse. Over the past 20 years or so, I have had 3 or 4 E.C. purses. I tried several others like Baggallini and Travelon, but have always come back to this brand's purse. It has sturdy and easy-to-use zippers, even when I only have one hand free to use when opening or closing it. The shoulder strap is wide enough to be comfortable while wearing any season's clothes. If the bag gets soiled, I just toss it in the clothes washer with my regular wash and it comes out looking brand new. Finally, there are two equally large, good-sized storage areas, one slightly smaller area, and an outer pocket: Just the right number to categorize and store all 'necessary items' and afford easy location of what I need, unlike a number of other brands which have far too many zipper pockets, slots, or snapper storage. I spend far too much time looking for where I put an item in them as opposed to Eagle Creek's bag , designed with ease of use and function. I highly recommend this bag for travel or everyday use.

Duly impressed with the utility and toughness of this duffel. I was a little nervous that it was quite big when packed up in its stuff sack (about the size of a pair of sneakers), but once unfolded it is huge. Just to test the volume, I threw in some pillows and stuffed animals and still had trouble filling it up. This is now my secret weapon for trips where I expect to bring a lot of souvenirs home. For a small investment in space, I can pack this in my suitcase outgoing, and have plenty of storage for the way home. The material is a tough, coated fabric that feels waterproof. Yet it's light enough that no material feels wasted. Zippers are big, smooth and lockable. I wouldn't think twice about checking this in with baggage handlers. Best of all, it has a luggage pass-thru panel so it rides over wheeled luggage.

I've used these travelling for business and pleasure for many years. They competently do the job of keeping my shirts and pants compactly packed and less wrinkled than they would be otherwise. They aren't a "blow you away" type product - just one that I value for their purpose.

I thought this bag didn't present much in value other than looking cool when the top was closed and it became a small box shape on wheels. It would have been nice if the top part could have detached to be more useful. Because of the design, it has less storage space than most carry-ons and being able to collapse the top didn't make the bag extra functional in anyway. The bag would fit on a plane collapsed or not.

Don't let the small size deceive you...it holds a ton of stuff due to the wide base. Side pockets also have a lot of room. Very pleased! Love Eagle Creek products!

I bought this bag to start off my adventures into carry on only travel. I had originally wanted to get a Tom Bihn Aeronaut but that wasn't in my price range at the time, so I selected this. The longest trip I have been on since buying this is 9 days at Universal Studios Florida. It performed wonderfully. Along with the Adventure Weekender I bought a Pack-It cube and two half cubes. I was able to fit 9 folded tank tops into a half cube, 9 pairs of shorts and pajamas into the regular sized cube, and underwear/socks into the other half cube. All three cubes fit into the side of the bag with the compression straps. I am picky and when wearing the weekender in backpack mode, I liked the structure the cubes gave to the back panel. This left the entire other side of the bag open for a windbreaker and lots of souvenirs including two wands. I also brought along a 15" MacBook Pro and small school book. These fit in the larger pocket and organizer panel respectively. All in all the bag ended up weighing about 17 lbs going and 23 with souvenirs. I have used it multiple times for shorter trips and gets the job done. This gets an A+ from me, would definitely recommend.

This duffle is made of strong, durable material and has many excellent features such as the cinch-down buckles. I purchased similar-sized duffles from Patagonia and Marmot at the same time to compare, but this one was the best by far and I returned the others.

This bag is smaller than the dimensions suggest. The telescoping handle mechanism takes up quite a bit of room in the interior. Also, the video indicates that packit cubes will fit into the bag. They do not unless bent, defeating the purpose of the cube. I am quite disappointed with this bag.

Nothing but accolades for both the product and the Zappos representatives with whom I interacted. One of my best on-line shopping experiences. The Weekender Bag exceeded my expectations! It looks unstructured, but was anything but; also was pleasantly surprised at the capacity, quality and features of the bag. Looking forward to my next Zappos purchase!

This is a nice bag and just the right size, with good compartment space. It is just what I need for quick trips and weekends get aways (even a short international hop). Good quality canvas, but would have liked it to be a bit thicker. Zappos provided its five star service that I have come to appreciate.

Just returned from a 3 week international trip that included 8 airplane rides and the need to pack for both adventure travel and fine dining. Love this suitcase. It still looks brand-new, is lightweight, easily held all that I needed to pack and swallowed the purchases I made without my having to use its expansion capability. It rolled effortlessly on all surfaces and the well placed handles made it easy to grab whether off of the baggage belt at the airport or out of a car. I used the Eagle Creek pack-it system and loved that as well.

I really do not understand the purpose of the Specter line. You can get the same exact results with a Ziploc Freezer bag and it will not cost you so much. I think people just like the bright colors and the name.
