No description of the sole is give but it is a multi-shade, multi-profile surface with a horseshoe type heel surface. I'm not sure if this shoe can be repaired but the sole will probably last a long time.

Great shoe. I tried literally dozens before settling on this model. Works well with the width of my foot and is very comfortable while maintaining a stylish look. The Zappos.com experience made it very easy to find a shoe that worked for me.

As a line cook, I needed a shoe that would be slip resistant, easy to clean, and comfortable to stand on continuously throughout my 8+ hour shifts. However, after taking them out of the box at home, the arch support was non existent. Needless to say, I immediately returned them.

After years of wearing uncomfortable dress shoes I decided I needed something comfortable to wear to my son's wedding. I wore these for about 16 hours over two days and they were so comfortable that I had no desire to take them off. These are the first dress shoes I've ever worn that I felt no need to get out of in a hurry. They look good and provide as much comfort as a pair of sneakers (I even ran in them a few times and never slipped or felt off balance). I highly recommend these shoes.

I didn't like the shiny finish which seemed unnatural for a leather shoe. Also, frankly, it looked cheap.
