I deliberately purchased slightly oversize to accommodate my prescription supports. This shoe turned out to be a modest overkill. Fortunately, it came with two insoles and I could leave one under my prosthesis, which almost solved the problem. For a long hike, I still have to wear two pairs of socks. We have now survived several six mile hikes and become good friends. The soles are very stiff, reminding my of the Pavetti mountain boots that I used to own in my flaming youth. The shoes do not look like mountain boots. At 78 years of age, I enjoy having this kind of support. They are definitely not cross trainers and too stiff for running.

My husband wears an orthotic and has a very wide foot with a high arch. In trying on the Traveler he found that the toe box was deep enough that even with one of the liners still in the shoe he had lots of room in the shoe. It fits that well. He has 3 pair and if another black pair comes available in his size I'll buy it as a back-up pair. Both the nubuck and the grain leather are a very nice quality and we noted that the laces were generous in length. All around great shoe and well worth the price.

Finding a shoe that will fit Superfeet green insoles comfortably has been almost impossible for me until now. My search is over. How can anyone wear these incredible insoles without having the shoes fit too tight and/or feet overheating from lack of airflow? The Drew Traveler and Drew Surge are the only shoes I have found thus far that have enough depth, especially in the heel to accommodate the increased height of this insole by design. I only needed to remove the top footbed (1 of 2) to get a good fit. Finally I don't have to sacrifice tight fitting shoes or make a compromise with a thinner and less supportive insole to get comfort. More styles needed please! Only negatives, the laces way too long (make/ buy shorter ones and easy fix), tongue too short and especially in the Surge (minor problem, but what were they thinking)?

I have wide feet with bunions and have had pain with most of the shoes that previously fit me. I tried this shoe out of desperation as I was heading to Europe for two weeks of touring with a lot of walking planned. They were great out of the box and the two removable insoles gave me the extra room for my orthotics without taking up the width I needed. No pain at all. Great support. They are a little heavier and warmer than I would have liked but I was happy to put up with that for the comfort. I will order a pair in black.

My husband was so impressed with the Drew Traveler. The toe box was generous and deep and the width, 6E, is perfect for him. He had no trouble fitting his orthotic into the shoe and even so, the toe box wasn't limiting. I highly recommend this shoe for anyone who needs a wide shoe and a forgiving toe box. The nubuck is sueded just enough to give the shoe a casual look. If I could rate the shoe more than 5's, I would!

Finally, a pair of shoes that fit. Ever try to find a pair of 10 1/2 6E shoes?... Not easy. It took three tries to get a pair that fit well, but Zappos covered shipping both ways with no extra charge. Besides that, I got my deliveries in about two days after ordering. There were no questions or hassles with the returns either. I'm very happy with my new shoes and the great service from Zappos. I know where I'll be getting all my shoes from now on.

Here's my story and why I love these Drews. I have a terrible time finding shoes that fit. I have wide feet (at least 6E), a high instep, and custom orthotics. Until the Drews came along, I was suffering with New Balance sneakers that come in 6E and with SAS "double wides", what my wife called The Frankenstein Shoes. In order to do that I had to remove their cushion insoles, so it was like walking on cement all the time, but it was better than going barefoot, especially to business meetings in my suit. So to recap, up until recently The Human Race only made two shoes that would fit me off the shelf. The arrival of the Drew Travelers changed how I walk. I can put my custom orthotics in without talking out either of their two cushion insoles. So they are very deep. Even with 3 levels of insoles (custom orthotics and 2 cushions) my heels don't slip out the back and I can wiggle my toes. The extra depth means that the width is not "used up" accommodating my high instep. They have a straight, flat last which means that the orthotics sit flat in the shoe. The sole is one huge shock absorber and the shoe is lightweight. If you are attracted to this shoe and can afford two pairs at once, you must also get the Drew Surge, which is their sneaker, and what I'm wearing right now. One more point. For the first time in years, I'm not wearing very ugly shoes. The black leather version of the Traveler looks dressy enough for me, and the brown nubuck looks great with jeans. Even my kids commented that the Surge sneakers looked good. Also: Get this. In the Surge sneakers, I can jog for the first time in 10 years. By the way: If width or depth is an issue for you, I also tried out the Drew Force and the Drew Arlington, but returned them as they aren't as deep through the instep. Stick with the Traveler and Surge.

For 2 years, I have tried to find shoes that I could wear with a suit. My Hellux Rigidus has caused me to be unable to wear almost anything but sneakers. I need a large toe box that would not put pressure on my big toe. No other shoe has been comfortable for me until the Drew Traveler. I used to limp from the pain unless I wore the Drew Thunder sneakers, which are very comfortable for me, but wearing sneakers with a suit was not the fashion statement I care to make. This shoe has enabled me to be comfortable without looking silly in a dark suit with white sneakers. Finally I have foot comfort with dressy shoes that make my feet comfortable. Thank you Zappos!

My husband has small, but very wide, feet - 8 1/2 6E. It is hard to find shoes for him, and after six back surgeries, finding sturdy and comfortable shoes is difficult. This shoe has proven to be excellent. I have purchased this shoe twice before and have been pleased. He doesn't complain about his feet burning on the bottoms, like he does with other shoes and it keeps his feet dry. He can also stand on his feet longer, too. I will purchase this again and again.

Drew Traveler-lace up - I'm still trying it out indoors, just in case I need a wider size, but so far I like it. Been wearing Drew since way back when they were still made in U.S.A., and they outlast just about everything else. Excellent accommodation for bulky orthotics, and a last that just seems to suit my feet and gait. Of course, Zappos service continues to amaze and impress.

The Fantastic Traveler - First impressions of the Drew Traveler. I purchased the black leather Traveler. The look and feel of the leather is soft and supple. This is the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn! The entire inside of the shoe is exquisitely cushioned. The cushiony insole is somewhat firm yet soft and yielding, but not in a squishy fashion. The shoe fit is 100% accurate, with plenty of room in the toe box. Initially I got the Traveler for work but due to its extreme comfort I wear them for all occasions. I plan to purchase another pair of Drew shoes. I highly recommend the Traveler. Zappos.com is second to none, with hassle free service and free overnight shipping. Zappos.com gets my highest recommendation as well.

Very comfortable shoe - Bought the Drew and Rockport walker. Drew was more comfortable and cushioned. Rockport is a much lighter shoe. Both shoes accommodate orthotics and are easy on the heel (especially if you have feet problems). I think Drew is too heavy for a summer shoe, but will be great in fall winter, since it is weather proof. Using the Rockport this summer as they are really much lighter!

Nice roomy shoe for my big feet. They lasted me about 1 year. The shoe still looks in good shape and the bottoms aren’t worn much either. My only complaint is I like to tie my shoes nice and tight so shoes with loops or hooks for the laces always break. If these had sturdy grommet holes for the laces they would definitely be my shoe of choice.

These run a full size large. And I agree with two other reviews; one stated the tongue was too long. I found that out by having the tongue dig into my ankle. Another stated that the hook eyelets will break in time if laced tightly. I also agree on this. Drew needs to shorten the tongue and put in regular eyelets and they would have a decent shoe.

Loved the shoe except the tongue is too long. For example, the tongue-to-heel distance on a New Balance is about 3-1/2", so the hole your ankle fits into is an oval. The Drew is about 3" tongue-to-heel, so your ankle has to fit into a round hole instead of an oval. Tongue rides up into the ankle uncomfortably. So the shoes went back and I am back to New Balance. Seems silly that the folks that build an otherwise really nice shoe would mess up just one detail that makes an otherwise really nice shoe unwearable.
