Nice and wide and true to size - I've been a New Balance fan for years, but their shoes are getting smaller so I tried this brand. It is nice and wide (2E) in the toe bed, but not sloppy in the heel. I'm very pleased.

Unbelievable cushioning and comfort! I was looking for a wide-width athletic shoe that had the most cushioning I could find. This was it because I could wear my orthotics on top of both removable insoles and still have plenty of room. The instep was high enough for me without my foot looking like a sausage stuffed into a too-tight casing. The toe box was wide enough so that I could wiggle my toes to my heart's content. It was also deep enough that my toes never touched the top of the toe box - even with both insoles and my orthotics. The only problem, and the reason I had to return them, is that my heel is narrow and kept slipping in the shoe. There were no extra lace holes the way some shoes have so that you can lace the shoes to keep your heels from slipping, and even if there had been, I'm not sure I could've laced them tight enough to compensate for the width of the shoe's heel. I think this shoe might be an orthopedic shoe, but it doesn't look like it. The shoe looks a little dowdy, not flashy or stylish, but that's a small price to pay for the comfort it offers.
Brands I'd also recommend: New Balance, and the occasional shoe in Saucony, Adidas, and Keen.

Update on Drew Flare - A few weeks ago I reviewed this shoe. The shoe was one of the most comfortable I've ever worn, but my narrow heel slipped and so I returned the shoe. I liked the fit so much that I decided to try the shoe again, but in a 1/2 size smaller. The shoe fit my heel better, and my toes still have enough room to wiggle, however, the toe box doesn't seem quite as deep, so I wore my orthotics with the top insole only instead of with both insoles. I'm really really glad I tried this shoe in a 1/2 size smaller!

Comfortable shoe! This shoe is really comfortable and roomy inside. I've been wearing New Balance for years but they no longer make a shoe to fit my extra wide feet. This shoe easily accommodates my wide (and thick) feet as well as my custom orthotics. It's more comfortable than the New Balance shoes ever were. I'm very happy with it.

Drew Flare - Overall comfort is excellent. At first they were a little stiff but after 2 days of use they are fine. Great shoes for walking at work.

Relief! I tore ligaments in my left foot several years ago and, despite surgery, it still hurts to walk or stand for any length of time; this is a problem for an ICU nurse! I bought these to wear to work, and I have been very pleased with the support and cushioning. Plenty of room for my orthotic insert.

WOW! This is the best fitting shoe. I wear a wide and most wides are not wide on the sole of the foot. The Drew shoes are. It also does not look bad on the foot. Great shoe! Comfortable too. A+

Great Shoe - The Drew Flare is surprisingly stylish and comfortable for a shoe that will hold my orthotic and a good support system for the other foot. It feels a little boxy but I guess that's to be expected. All-in-all, I am pleased and will purchase another pair in the future

Drew Flare – what a relief - I have tried every brand to get comfort and this shoe did the trick. I like the fact that it has such thick levels of support so that your feet do not feel the pavement when walking. Comfort from day one! Drew will be my shoe from now on! The strings are way too long, but they send a shorter pair. True to size. Zappos is the greatest company. Fast and efficient. It’s a family thing with us now. Thanks!
Brands I'd also recommend: None compares. Sorry!

Good Looking and comfortable, too! The Drew Flare shoe is very comfortable and my necessary orthotic fits very well without having to remove any innersoles. My feet stay cool and dry and I plan on getting another pair in a different color.
Brands I'd also recommend: Any Drew or Brooks shoes.

Customized Fit - The wonderful thing about Drew shoes is the ability to customize the fit. After finally getting the correct combination of insoles (including 1 with hard built in arches), these shoes are very comfortable. I have large bunions and extreme difficulty finding shoes to fit. The heel is wider than I need which causes heel slippage, but I can live with that. The Zappos return postage policy has saved my life or more appropriately, my feet.

Great Shoe - The best thing about this shoe is that the foot well is deep enough that I can remove the insoles and put in my orthotics. So far this is the only tennis shoe I've found that will accommodate me. I only wish there were more shoes that my orthotics would fit in. These are in fact the ONLY shoes I can wear thus far. I am fortunate that my employer allows me to wear tennis shoes to work everyday.

Although I live in Hawaii where most people run around barefoot or in slippers, I wear shoes with orthotic inserts. Unlike any other walking shoe I have, the Drew Flare accommodates the inserts so that my heel doesn't slip out when I walk. In addition, the Flare has mesh built into leather which allows the feet to stay cool even in our warm weather. I've been wearing my Drew Flares daily for about a month. My feet are never tired or sore and I walk a minimum of two miles each day. I was lucky to come across this very comfortable shoe.

Love these shoes. Finally found a pair that I could wear standing all day at work. I have an extra extra wide small foot. Plus I have multiple foot problems and wear orthotics. These shoes have plenty of width and depth and lots of cushioning. Very comfortable!

Shoe had a true fit and moderate arch support (I have a high arch and need more than this shoe offered). Also noticed that the top of the shoe cut into my foot - where the tongue meets the tied laces. This would probably work better for a narrower foot.
Brands I'd also recommend: Ryka, Brooks, Asics

This shoe lives up to all the manufacturer’s claims. I have been purchasing New Balance and generally find them ok. While this shoe might have a bit of the "clunk factor", the comfort and cushioning more than make up for any style defect. I have a neuroma of the toes, bunions, and an arthritic knee, as well as very wide feet. This shoe was beyond comfortable the moment I put them on and throughout a long day’s wear. One can easily insert an orthotic because of its deep toe box. Great shoe!

Comfortable!!! From the moment I tried these shoes on, I am impressed. Comfortable for my large, wide foot. Arch is average, but the comfort is amazing. I can't wait to go for a walk and see if they feel the same when I return. If so, I will believe the saying "you get what you pay for". I have never paid this much for a pair of tennis shoes, but these are great thus far!

I bought one pair of the Drew Flare in a 10 1/2 4E for my daughter. We were so exited to find a shoe that fit! There was a stitching defect and we had to exchange them for another pair. Zappo\'s customer service was exceptional. The new shoes were on our front door step in no time.

I wanted to like these shoes because the roomy toe box and extra depth are great. Sadly, I could not keep them because the tongue has a harsher leather material that pushes into my inner ankles. I often have swollen ankles so maybe this shoe isn't good for people with edema/swollen ankles. While I wore this shoe I kept having pain in my heels and left big toe. I'm going to try the Saucony Shadow 6000 and the New Balance 576, which I've heard very good things about through therunningadvisor.com which helps you decide what kind of feet you have. When you click on a link on that site it will take you to Zappos.com to the appropriate running shoes for your foot type.
