I needed these for a work trip, where steel toes were mandatory. As I'm unlikely to need them again for a long long time, I decided to go for something that would also work well with a Chicago winter, and I just liked the look of these. So I was even happier when I tried them and they were actually really comfy. You don't notice the heavy toe at all and there is padding around the ankle which helps keep you warm as well as avoiding chafing. A good purchase, even if I don't plan on visiting any more mines!

As some of the other reviews state, these boots take a couple weeks to break in. When you get them, you'll be "Awwww, pretty boot!", but when you put them on, they'll be snug over the top of your foot and you'll be all "Pretty boot hurt foot. Bad boot. Bad." (Do that in a Hulk voice for effect.) But relax. Wear them for a few days and that snugness will ease off. It won't be long before your Hulk voice goes away and you're back to "Awwww, pretty boot!" The next thing you'll notice is that there is little to no arch support. Read the other reviews, and you'll see people comment about this. Don't be like me, trust them. Take their advice and buy different inserts for your pretty boots. Sadly, that's where my experience ends with these boots. I've only had them for a couple weeks and the sole of the right boot is starting to separate from the rest of the boot. Here's the rub: I've only been walking around in these. No hard work or trudging through chemicals or toxic waste (Hmmm, maybe I should've done that to turn into the Hulk?). You know, just regular walking. Now you might think, maybe the boots are rebelling because they're not being used for "work," but I am wearing them at work (even if that involves standing at my desk writing about stuff and hacking code), and there's no good reason why a boot made by a reputable brand would do this to me, right? It's not me, it's them. They just don't love me, and thanks to Zappos return policy, I'm able to send this shifty pair of tight-at-first-but-Awwww-pretty boots back for a different pair. And no, I'm not getting another pair of these in the hopes that the next pair of pretty boots will treat me better. Will want put under pillow at night for snuggles and cream cheese. So stay tuned, people. The new boots arrive tomorrow while the once pretty boots have been put in a corner to think about what they've done.

These boots are great. I've had them for about two months and they're perfect for what I do. I work on diesel vehicles...semi's and construction equipment. They've been great in this environment. It only took about five days for them to break in. Then they were comfortable. I plan on getting another pair.

I got these work boots in June of 2013. I wanted to really put them through the paces before leaving a review. They did take a little more wear than usual to break in, but I think that is due to the heavy construction and the steel toes. I only have three minor complaints: 1. The leather on the toe is very easy to damage, though it has not worn all the way through because I try to be gentle with them. It would be nice to have that toughened a bit. 2. The fact they're laceless and pull-on is great for a lot of reasons, but they need some kind of elastic band or something inside to keep the heal from loosing contact with my foot. 3. You won't be able to get a straight cut pant over the top. thats fine if you're in mud and want to keep your pants clean, but if you're running a saw they fill with wood shavings, which get caught up in and damage the fabric on the sole. In summary, these are the best workboots I've ever owned. I would recommend them to anyone. They are comfortable and pretty waterproof and durable. It takes a lot of water over a lot of time before it gets past the surface. The padding around the ankles is great. They have saved my feet and shins more than a few times. I have worn them working in the mountains and in the city, in the snow and in the summer. They have served me better than any others, and I would buy them again without hesitation!

Solid work boot. I am in EMS and these boots fit the bill perfectly. Of course, they were a little stiff when I first put them on but throughout the first day of wearing them, they became super comfortable. Highly recommended. I would recommend the Dr. Marten Comfort Insole (also sold by Zappos). Really helps out the boot a great deal.

The boots are nice. They seem to be holding up well in the Chicago winter. Whatever size you normally wear, go up one since they don't offer half sizes.I had to send the first pair back. They were too snug.

I bought these for my 21 year old son who works in construction/remodeling. He loves them, says they are super comfortable and easy to put on & take off.
