These are some pretty awesome boots! My only complaint is that the soft leather tongue does this weird bunching up thing at it's base if you stretch your foot/walk around in them for a while. Also I needed to punch some extra holes in the straps to fit them to my calf. However, I fell in between sizes and went with the slightly larger one in the winter, and now that I'm not wearing thick socks all the time, I regret it a little bit.

Been watching these boots for just a while now. I ordered them Thursday night, knowing my recent breakup somehow would be kinder and sweeter once my booties arrived to be held dear. Upon waking & walking, to my wondering eyes does appear, but the UPS truck proclaiming my shoes from Zappos were here! They fit like a glove looking hip & serene, a few added notches got those belts nice around my shins. Zappos, I love ya! You care about me so! When I order from you, you treat me like a sis or bro. I'll always come back, true love can't resist! Like a heart to heart friend, shopping with you is bliss! Love ya! The boots really are great. Thanks.

These boots are my daughter\'s new favorite to wear everyday with everything. I took these to a shoe repair store to move the buckles over (rather than punch extra holes and have extra-long floppy straps) and that worked great! This is a necessity if your legs are slender, as these boots run a little large. Other customers commented on the soft leather, yet I was still surprised by how buttery soft it is! We also added some insoles to make them a little less roomy.

I love these boots. I got them for work and play and they are perfect; very comfortable and very light for tall boots.

Love these boots. I have large calves (17.5 inches) and had never owned a pair of knee high boots before because I could never find any that fit. I read the reviews about these boots having such a "huge calf" that they had to punch extra holes in the straps and figured they might actually fit me normally... and, lo and behold, they do! It\'s a close fit but they are extremely comfortable. I\'m VERY pleased with this purchase.

Additional Brand Information

One of the most respected and well-know icons in the world, Dr. Martens' boots, shoes, work shoes, and sandals continue to set the standard for durability, comfort and fashion. Dr. Martens's trademark look and quality construction has been recognized world-wide since 1960.

Where the classic 1460 style was being used by mailmen, union workers, and factory workers, it soon became popular among the masses. The 1460 continues to thrive, symbolizing individualism, originality, and taps into a individual's unique style who's willing to make that bold statement.

Dr. Martens doesn't think of itself as a "shoe" brand, but rather a way of thinking, a self-expression if you must. Popularly known as Doc Martens, they allow you to feel free to rock your grunge shorts, spike up your hair to the heavens, showoff your body art, whatever floats your boat. So whether you call them Dr. Martens, Doc Martens or just Docs there are no limits to your creativity.

These boots are fabulous. I wore them for the first time when I flew to NY City and had so many compliments from complete strangers coming up to me to ask where I got them. They are very comfortable and were so great running through the airport! I only wear them on special occasions, but they could be worn every day for the right look. My husband says they are my P!NK mixed with Edward Sissorhands boots. He loves them! They are quite sexy.

These run quite large (I originally got a 9 and exchanged for an 8, which is still spacious for my normally 8 1/2 feet) and very roomy in the calves; you could easily tuck jeans and heavy socks inside. The leather is not the "old school" Dr. Martens stuff (the hard kind that took months to break in, but then lasted forever); these are wearable from day one. I think it's the dye and will fade over time. The leather isn't dark black, it's kind of grey-ish green. Got lots of compliments on the style and found them comfortable in a job where I spend many hours on my feet on a concrete floor. Someone told me they saw identical boots at a department store for quite a bit more than the Zappos price.

Wow! These boots are even better looking in person! I was concerned about the sizing since I am a true 9 1/2; went with the 9's and they are perfect. The leather is supple, not at all stiff; they are not by any means "slouchy", but they do pucker a little between the top 2 straps, but that's okay. The straps can adjust to accommodate any calf size, the toe box is perfect. They took no break-in period. I have never loved a boot like I love these (thank you for my present, hubby!). If you are considering these, they are the perfect boot for skirts and jeans with an edge, get them! They are well worth the money. I haven't had Docs since the company changed hands so I am happy to say I am not disappointed. Also, Zappos rocks; so friendly, so helpful, this is exactly what customer service should be like, and so speedy and free! Ordered Sunday night, delivered Tuesday morning. Thank you, Zappos, I will always order from you!

Wow! These boots are even better looking in person. Zappos shipped these wicked quick, even on a holiday weekend. First off, I'm a guy and even those these are womens boots, they look completely masculine on. I've had several envious compliments from my compadres on these. The foot size was "spot on" once you do the UK/US conversion. The barrel/neck of the boot is large, but with some extra holes made (I would advise getting the proper "leather punch" from a crafts store) and some heavy socks, they fit great. The distressed and dieseled leather not only give them a great look, but also make them more pliable and protected from the elements. Thank you Zappos and Doc Marten.

I just received these boots as a gift a couple days ago after drooling over them online for the past few months. I have to say, my high expectations were not disappointed. I love them. They look fantastic, and the material isn't too thick, so I've been wearing them everyday in 80 degree weather. They're perfect for the Renaissance Festival and perfect for Factory Goth night at the club. They're comfortable and don't have a heal, so I'm not taller than my boyfriend, which has been a problem with many boots with the same hardcore looks as this in the past. I'm tall as it is, so I don't like being too much further off the ground. Ha. I love the purple plaid inside the boots. So far, they're comfortable and another plus: I can tuck my pant legs in! I have large calves so whenever I'd flex my calf muscles my other boots would unzip themselves. Not these! I have many, many boots, and these are definitely my favorite.

Super cool boots; so glad I bought them! A couple of issues: first, I have skinny legs, and had to punch more holes in the straps so they would fit reasonably well. I agree that the straps are a little flimsy, but as long as you're okay with the sort of flopped over look (which I am), they're fine.

I just got my boots this morning. So far so good. The leather is not as high quality as I would have hoped for the price... A pleasant surprise on the inside with the purple plaid lining.. The only down sides are: the leather straps are flimsy, the leather down by the toes where the tongue starts have a tendency to flap open, and they are made in China. I hope they will last for a bit on my bike and not make me wish I hadn't dropped so much $$$ on them... I miss the old Doc Marten Company.. Other than that they fit my big calves and that is a plus:)

Dr Martens Phina shoe - I love this boot. I received many compliments the first time I wore them. I have only one "complaint" (that's why I gave the look a 4 and not 5 stars). The area of the inner flap (where just a strip of leather shows when buckled up) will not lie flat against my shins. I have at best average width calves (not at all thick) and I adjusted many of the buckles to the last or next to the last hole. The one area between the top buckle and the next one down puckers out. Even without my leg in it, it doesn't lie completely flat, but it's worse when you've got the boot on. Lastly, I wish the heel was about 1/2 " to 1" taller...

These boots are fierce! I've gotten a ton of compliments on these biker-meets-Edward-Scissorhands boots from both women and men. Plus, they work great with pants or shorter skirts (due to the height of the boot - they look better with skirts at least 4" above the knee), in both casual and business casual settings. Although, this may depend on your line of business. (These worked great at a recent tradeshow where I didn't have time to change into more business-like shoes. I was on my feet all day and had to lug a giant booth into my car during a blizzard. Bless these boots!) The rubber sole works well in snow, ice, and slush, and the leather resists cold and water well. The straps are easily adjustable, and the zip-up feature makes taking them on and off very easy. I did not experience the need to break these in at all. My only complaint is that though the footbed is well padded, I would prefer more arch support (I wear arch supports with them). Also, you do need to wear thick socks to avoid having the top of the heel cut into your Achille’s. However, these are the best black boots I've found that I can walk in all day and wear to the office. Try them!

They fit!!! I have finally found a pair of knee-high boots that fit! As I am new to the whole non-snow boot situation, I had no idea that buying boots is such a pain. Apparently, I have large calves for my size 6 foot. I never knew this before and wonder who the average women's boot is sized for. Do these women stand up? At all? Anyhow, I have larger than average calves, as I said earlier. These boots are completely adjustable. They may not fit someone who has chicken-skinny calves as they are pretty roomy. Each buckle adjusts the circumference of the shaft so you can mold the boot to your leg. I may need to add a new hole near the bottom of the shaft, but I am ok with that. So, again, love this boot!

Fantastic buy - I absolutely adore these shoes and would get them again in a heartbeat. They're comfortable, stylish, and perfect for me. They are taller than you would think though so just be aware of that.

Excellent purchase! These boots are comfortable, well-fitted and great looking! They fit easily over my calves, even with jeans underneath. Just be sure to wear high socks with them in order to prevent blisters on the back of the heel. Would highly recommend.

Awesome shoes that require a bit of effort - These shoes look AMAZING. I have two small gripes with them though. First of all, they are a little tall for my 5'3" frame – they go up to my knees. However, with a short skirt they look really cute (and hardcore!). I wish they were a little shorter so they were more versatile. They make a shorter version of these, but they were a little shorter than I was looking for. My only other small issue is that they take some time to break in, as will all Dr. Marten's. However this was expected and not a big deal. All in all they are great quality shoes for a great price.

The Best! I was very excited when I came across this boot because Dr. Marten's shoes and boots are always well-made and because I noticed that the boot had buckles at the top of the boot, which appeared to make the boot a good choice for my large calves. I called Zappos customer service to ask some questions about the calf width and the person I spoke to was very helpful. I decided to purchase the boot and I was thrilled when I opened the box and saw how interesting the boot was up close. I actually cried tears of joy when I tried the boots on and after adjusting the buckles, I was able to comfortably pull the boots up and zipper them easily all the way up. Thanks Dr. Marten and Zappos!
