I bought these for my husband last Christmas. He is so picky with shoes, but has always loved Dr Martens. He loves them; they are his favorites! He wore them almost every day last Winter and will probably do so again this year.

Dissenting opinion. I purchased these shoes because I can ride my motorcycle to work in them and not wear larger boots all day at the office. Having them for a year now, I find I hardly ever wear them. Comfort is very old-school: soft soles and little in the way of heel support. After a few miles, like a too-soft chair, the spongy sole feels flat. This might be the famous Docs feel, but it doesn't work for me. The soles are surprisingly grippy though, more so than many hiking shoes. They excel on cement sidewalks wet or dry. Too bad they aren't very fun to walk in. Build quality is what kills this shoe for me. Unlike the sturdier Docs, these use some thin, low quality leather in the tongue, which causes them to stick out and look weird. The strap is for looks only (tongue is held by elastic) and adjusting it can't make them fit right. I probably wouldn't purchase these again.

This is my second pair; now I have both black & brown. I can dress them up for work or wear them while riding my motorcycle. Excellent fit (loose & comfortable). I wear a size 12 in sneakers and work boots. I went with the US 12, no regrets. My favorite shoes by far!

I ordered these in black and the moment I pulled em out the box I fell in love, order them a size smaller because they run a little big. The photos don’t give em justice, they are very shiny! They feel a bit loose, but if you tighten the strap they are fine. Thanks for the fast service ZAPPOS!

Loose-fitting clod-hoppers -
Be prepared to wear several layers of heavy socks - this boot is strangely shaped, so there is no grip at the heel or ankle, and when I raised my foot my heel lifted an inch or so inside the boot. It is also quite heavy, increasing this effect. It has a great style for going to punk music clubs, just don't expect to do any dancing in these. A benefit to those who feel they are to short: the sole and heel are very thick and add an inch or more to your height - like built-in lifts.

Look great, seem very sturdy, air pocket soles add a lot to the comfort level but I have concerns about the long term durability of the soft rubber. The insides are hard like dress shoes, but there is enough space for a good set of inserts, which make these very comfortable. 1-2 week break in period was a bit painful, but they are great now.

Love the boot -
Great boot -- looks tough (this isn't an elegant shoe) but feels great. Walked all over the city in them and was completely comfortable. I often have problems with shoes being too narrow but these were just right. I say go buy 'em.

Big and tough dress shoe - Nice looking shoe, but ran even bigger than other Dr. Martens I have. This is a substantial shoe.

Comfortable and unconventional - I don't own any other Docs-- I haven't previously been impressed with their styles. After buying this shoe, I see that I was wrong not to buy some simply because they are well made and practical-- this is a very capable shoe. Sticky rubber, amazing support, eerie level of shock absorption. If I wasn't trying to keep them shiny, I'd hike in these no problem. The quality is much better than I had expected. Very nice construction and a great value. The lack of laces on this model doesn't seem to matter as far as support. However, the tongue does stick out a bit, causing it to catch a lot on some pants. This limits the usefulness of this style to pants, which have a looser leg. Another strap would help here. These also lack a loop, which makes them a bit hard to put on at first. This may be in the interest of style but it's not something I expected.
