Where to start. I've owned a pair of Doc Martens since 1995. They last a very long time. They are comfortable. They are stylish. So when I saw the Oakham shoe my first thought was "That's a lot less than the comparable shoes." Which I thought was great. And I thought was a little worrisome. But I relied on my personal history with Dr. Marten and jumped in. The Oakhams are comfortable. They may very well last forever. They are not stylish. I was surprised by the latter. I've always known Docs to be quite stylish. Not the case here. For a business casual office you can get away with the Oakham. For any formal business occasion you cannot. Looking back I would have preferred to pay the extra money to buy a pair of shoes I could wear with more versatility. As it stands I've already had to purchase a pair of additional dress shoes. It is a comfortable shoe. It's juts not a very stylish one.

I've had traditional Docs for years. Docs are stylish, comfortable and last a long, long time. I wanted to like these shoes. Yeah, not so much. These shoes are not stylish. In fact, as much as I am surprised to use this word, they are ugly. Comfortable, but ugly. Having worn them for six months I can also say they do not wear well. Having paid a Dr. Martens price, I expected better. I won't buy these again, nor can I recommend them.

About Dr. Martens
Where the classic 1460 style was being used by mailmen, union workers, and factory workers, it soon became popular among the masses. The 1460 continues to thrive, symbolizing individualism, originality, and taps into a individual's unique style who's willing to make that bold statement.
Dr. Martens doesn't think of itself as a "shoe" brand, but rather a way of thinking, a self-expression if you must. Popularly known as Doc Martens, they allow you to feel free to rock your grunge shorts, spike up your hair to the heavens, showoff your body art, whatever floats your boat. So whether you call them Dr. Martens, Doc Martens or just Docs there are no limits to your creativity.
