Where the classic 1460 style was being used by mailmen, union workers, and factory workers, it soon became popular among the masses. The 1460 continues to thrive, symbolizing individualism, originality, and taps into a individual's unique style who's willing to make that bold statement.
Dr. Martens doesn't think of itself as a "shoe" brand, but rather a way of thinking, a self-expression if you must. Popularly known as Doc Martens, they allow you to feel free to rock your grunge shorts, spike up your hair to the heavens, show off your body art, whatever floats your boat. So whether you call them Dr. Martens, Doc Martens or just Docs there are no limits to your creativity.

Plain, handsome boot. The fit is slightly larger than typical U.S. measurements, like the other Dr Marten boot reviews mention. Comfy and seems durable.

Ordered these and was super psyched about them, but they wound up being just a bit too small at a supposedly US Men's 11. Felt more like a 10.5.

My old 1460s were a size 9 UK and fit a bit big but were comfortable. They were made in England. I just bought these Neros in size 9 and they are snug and the ankle hurts. They are made in China. I don't think Dr. Martens are as good as they once were, but time will tell if these are still better than cheaper boots.

I was so happy when I finally was able to order my pair of Nero's from Zappos; it seemed every time I check someone had always snagged the last pair of the brown burnished Wyoming version...so that says something good about the high demand of this boot, for good reason I might add! I have to say that hands down this is the most comfortable pair of boots I've ever worn, and one of the most comfortable articles of footwear I've ever owned. The quality is very good, especially for the zappos price tag. The leather is a little thinner than expected, but after all, this is not a work boot, although it does feel very rugged to fit the description. In case anyone doesn't know for sure, they're definitely not waterproof or insulated, so I would not recommend wearing these in the rain. However, I also purchased the Dr. Marten's wonder balsam, which is a wax based treatment that you can apply to the boot to add some water resistance, which I highly recommend. It adds some protection while also giving the leather a rich, restored feeling to it. Sizing was one thing that I was hesitant about when ordering, many reviews seem to say that they run both too big and too small, and I feel they are about a half size larger than I'd like, but that little bit of roominess is forgotten with a pair of slightly thicker socks, or simply tying them a little tighter. I'd say the best bet is to order your normal size, then just rely on Zappos' excellent return policy to deal with any issues in sizing. Overall, I can't say enough about how much I like these, and I would definitely buy again...if they could only keep them in stock! Don't debate any longer and just buy them.
