Where the classic 1460 style was being used by mailmen, union workers, and factory workers, it soon became popular among the masses. The 1460 continues to thrive, symbolizing individualism, originality, and taps into a individual's unique style who's willing to make that bold statement.
Dr. Martens doesn't think of itself as a "shoe" brand, but rather a way of thinking, a self-expression if you must. Popularly known as Doc Martens, they allow you to feel free to rock your grunge shorts, spike up your hair to the heavens, show off your body art, whatever floats your boat. So whether you call them Dr. Martens, Doc Martens or just Docs there are no limits to your creativity.

I've been wearing this style longer than I care to admit. They break in quickly, and take a "spit shine" like no other boot (even better than my steel toe boots in the Air Force!). With regular applications of wonder balsam, these boots easily last 5+ years, making them an incomparable bargain. Docs for life!

Walking on wooden planks would feel better. There is zero arch support. There is zero cushion inside. There is not enough room on the top of the foot to add your own decent insole. The tongues will not stay put and are constantly shifting sideways. Be prepared to unlace them 1/2 way (every time) in order to wedge them on to your feet. Good luck with break in. You've bee warned. P.S. I've owned four pairs of Docs. I will never order another pair.

Amazing! This is the first pair of Docs I've ever owned and I'm now hooked on the brand. Break in time was minimal and the more I beat them up, the more character they're getting. These are great everyday boots. I did add Dr. Scholls work boot insoles but this for me because I have no arches. Otherwise the boots are perfect!

It is simple: I just do not have enough nice things to say about these boots. They arrived four days ago (just two days after I had ordered them), and I have worn them everyday since. A bit of advice; you will have to suck it up for the first day or two of wearing them, as the leather is quite stiff and can cause a considerable amount of discomfort. On the other hand (or foot), the break-in stage is very brief and is well worth it. They are really quite comfortable, and they are gorgeous, to boot! As for sizing, I would recommend ordering the same size you wear in Chuck Taylors. They run a little big, and you will have a slight amount of extra room once the leather breaks in. The bottom line is, if you are looking for very well constructed, durable boots with a history of excellence and an established presence in the counterculture, these are your boots. The video is amazing, but does not depict the black. If you want a better idea of what the black looks like, just type in "Dr. Martens 8761" on YouTube. At this rate, I will never wear anything else again.

Great boots. One thing to note though, when I put the Dr. Martens comfort insoles in them, there was too much pressure on the top of my foot. I had to take them out. The boots don't seem to have removable insoles, so I am going without. They are comfortable. They definitely need respect when breaking them in. I could only wear them for a couple of hours at a time for the first few weeks. Like all great Dr Martens, once they are broken in, they are super comfortable. They don't go as high up on my shins as some of my other boots. Not a huge issue, but when I am riding my motorcycle, I miss the extra coverage. Sharp looking boots, will get you noticed.

These boots are awesome. I love Zappos. I ordered the boots Saturday evening and they were on my doorstep Monday afternoon and that was using the free shipping. If you have never worn Docs before, prepare your feet for stiff leather that needs to be broken in. The size is perfect. I did not listen to the other reviews where they recommended a smaller size than what you typically wear. Just understand that UK sizes are different than US. I wear US 13 but order UK 12. Perfect fit.
