I love my docs. Obviously, getting the British ones are really difficult, mine were from china, but still, great boots. Great price. Stiff as all hell. Rub with the balsam oil, flex them by hand, wear them out in the rain. Double up socks and use some band-aids: good to go in a week. Or, do it ol' skool, deal with the blisters, or stand in your bathtub full of hot water, and go for a walk til they are dry. Zappos rocks!

I am very happy with my 10 eye Doc Martens. They were a bit stiff the first week as expected, but once broke in I am stomping around proud and looking good in my Doc's!

I didn't expect that such a tough-looking boot would be so comfortable. Once these were broken in I found that I could wear them all day with no soreness whatsoever. The sole is quite springy.I do use an insole from Wal-Mart (as in all my shoes). I wear an 8 1/2 US mens and I had read that these ran a bit large so I ordered the 8. I found that to be just a tad small as my toe would touch at times on an incline. Thanks to Zappos great return policy I returned them for size 9s, which fit very well. I especially like the toe room, which I didn't have in my original order, the 1490 boot. That one looked good, too, but is tighter over the toes (see my review of that boot).

I purchased my 1919 Dr. Martens (first ever pair) just before my vacation, a cruise to the Bahamas. Zappos' shipping is uber fast! My "old boots" were a 12 year old pair of Lehigh work boots which were just about worn out (and I still use them to cut grass and such). I received many compliments from the ship's staff on my boots! Who knew they were checking people out so closely? The boots are very comfortable, and I like the soft rubber soles. In less than 2 days I had them broken in, after working in liberal amounts of mink oil. I have prescription arch supports, and there's just enough room in there. They feel great, light, and well made. The only two things I would change would be a more aggressive tread pattern on the soles, and maybe have some "quick lace" hooks on the top five lace holes, but that is just a preference, not a necessity.

About Dr. Martens
Where the classic 1460 style was being used by mailmen, union workers, and factory workers, it soon became popular among the masses. The 1460 continues to thrive, symbolizing individualism, originality, and taps into a individual's unique style who's willing to make that bold statement.
Dr. Martens doesn't think of itself as a "shoe" brand, but rather a way of thinking, a self-expression if you must. Popularly known as Doc Martens, they allow you to feel free to rock your grunge shorts, spike up your hair to the heavens, showoff your body art, whatever floats your boat. So whether you call them Dr. Martens, Doc Martens or just Docs there are no limits to your creativity.

I've had a few pairs of DM boots & shoes over the last couple of decades. A couple of months ago, my first pair of steel toe shoes were finally done-in after a decade of service. I knew the 1919 was the exact style I wanted this time around. The only real question was how quickly I could get my greedy hands on 'em. Being in a hurry, I opted for 2-day shipping on my order, which was placed on a Sunday. The boots arrived on Tuesday afternoon, a day earlier than I'd expected! I'm slowly going through the process of breaking in the boots. Judging by the first couple of days, break-in should be much faster than I'd expected. Just need to work on getting rid of the squeaking tongue in the right boot. I am definitely satisfied and pleased with the purchase process and the boots!

I\'ve had the 1919s for about two weeks now, and really like them. I work 12 hour shifts in a factory on my feet, and these are working great for me, and they look great too.

An old standby that lasts and lasts. I felt like I had to write a review of these shoes after I got an email from Zappos telling me it had been a year since I ordered my Docs, and I could order the same item again, and that my size was available. Obviously they don't know Docs, or the people who buy them. One of the biggest selling points of Docs (aside from their incredible comfort) is that they last forever. I'm 32 and am still wearing the cherry Doc oxfords I wore in high school. I ordered these steel toe boots last year knowing full well they are probably the last pair I'll ever need to buy. And I love them just as much as I loved my first pair. After an initial breaking-in period, they became my favorite pair of boots. In rain, in snow, through mud, as long as I had on a nice thick pair of socks to keep my toes warm, there was nowhere these boots wouldn't or couldn't go. These boots have been abused in the past year and they feel and look even better than they did when I first put them on. If you are the kind of person who enjoys disposable footwear, you'll hate these boots (or any Docs). If you enjoy indestructible, comfortable footwear, these are for you.
Brands I'd also recommend: any other Dr. Martens

Love at First Sight - Ok - got my new Docs in time for a few days of breaking in and then off to NYC for a week. They not only feel great, protecting my toes from the harsh city elements with the steel toe, and the finish on the leather has been great against the rain and snow. Been wearing Doc's forever, and so happy to have this new pair!

They are so 1990's punk and so rad - My mother finally gave in to my whining and begging, and finally bought me these awesome boots. I’ve waiting four years for these. They are so 1990's punk and so rad. They are still stiff and require daily creaming and waxing to avoid blisters. The more you apply cream, the less stiff they become, which is a good fit.

Doc marten - The shoe is a good shoe. The sole is not as comfortable as I remembered. I will try them out for a few months and hope they feel better. Your customer service was a two when I called. It needs work.

11th pair of Docs - I started buying Docs about 12 years ago. I’ve always worked retail or landscaping where tuff/non-skid footwear was required. I love 'em! i have Mary Jans, slip-ons, lace boots, loafers, lace shoes, Velcro shoes, zip-up boots. I wear 'em all. Comfort, style & durable. My present job requires steel toes so I bought the classic - same as the first pair I ever had sans the steel toe. Made the mistake of wearing too thin a sock and cut up my shins a bit - put 'em back on today (a week later) with a thick sock and they were great. Every pair I own is a size uk6/usa womens8. True fit. I think 7 pair were bought thru zappos - the best service! Need I say more??

Doc Martins since MY MOM WAS A KID! The first pair of Doc Martins I had were a pair belonging to my Mother when she was my age. She had several pairs that had not been worn more than once, and very quickly I wore them in. I loved them so much, nothing else brought me support and style so quickly. When my Mother's old pair began to fall apart I was in dire need of a new set. I got these in the black. They were perfect! They feel great and look brand new. I've had them for 2 years now and they hold together very nicely. Doc Martin boots are known for being orthepedic shoes, they are excellent for the back and arch of the foot. If you have weak calves or arch they hold together very nicely and support you wonderfully. I would recommend them to any person.
Brands I'd also recommend: ALL Doc Martin boots. Depending on your style I would suggest anything between 8 and 20 hole Doc Martin boots.

"Off-color" I love Doc Martens' boots and decided on a whim that I needed a pair of red ones. I love the fit of these--a few days of "marinating" in Doc Marten's Wonder Shoe Balsam and they were ready to wear! However, I have to say that both the color name and the picture on the site were a little misleading: the color of my pair is closer to a deep maroon than to "cherry" red. I understand that the history of Doc Martens includes a period when skinhead gangs supposedly wore this color Doc because the dried blood of their victims wouldn't show up on the boots, and I can well believe it.
Brands I'd also recommend: Any Doc boots--- and a container of Doc Marten's Wonder Shoe Balsam to break them in!

Great boots - These boots are a great buy, they're very comfortable and don't leave blisters on my heels like other boots that I've owned before. They take a little while to break in but it's definetly worth. I've gotten rid of my sneakers for these boots because I can wear them everywhere and I love them.
Brands I'd also recommend: Any Doc Marten's

My cherry steel-toe Docs kick-@$$. The boots looked great. I added an insole, 'cos the Docs are always slightly too large for my foot. I wore them to work that night and suffered a couple of blisters around my ankles, but when I wore them again a couple of days later the boots felt good and broken in and they haven't rubbed blisters on me since. I've gotten lots of compliments on my boot.

Sexiest boots around - They were a little bigger than expected, but not too bad. They are really great looking, but stiff as anything at first. Just break them in and you'll be good to go.
