I selected the Cherry
Red Docs and am thoroughly delighted with the deliciously deep color. I have wide feet and bad ankles, so it's hard to find anything that satisfies my needs for stability and fashion. Dr. Martens is good for body and soul. By the way, the shoe is shipped with both black and gold laces. And a snazzy modern art postcard. What's not to love?

Dr. Martens is well known for its soles. This particular pair is a little on the heavy side, but they are quite comfortable. The back of the shoe initially cuts into the back of your foot, but will stretch out after a short time wearing them. If you find this too uncomfortable, there is another model of this shoe which is padded at the back. I don\'t personally like that look, but I\'ll bet it\'s comfortable. This is at least my 4th pair of these. The yellow stitching, a trademark of Dr. Martens, is not particularly professional looking at work, but I continue to wear them in my casual work environment. Sure, they get noticed, but I love them. For me, one of the best features is that they are difficult to scratch and rarely require polishing. The soles will eventually wear down and while Dr. Martens used to offer a re-soling service, they\'ve stopped doing this.

I purchased a pair of brown
Doc Marten's very similar to this pair in roughly 1994 when I was in college. Initially I bought them to 'be cool' and fit in with the other hip kids in college. Fifteen years later I am still wearing these shoes. They are a bit worn and have a weird worn leather smell that I only attribute to
Doc Martens but they are fantastic. I have a bad back, bad knees, arthritis, callouses (from too many years of waitressing) and a bunion for good measure. My feet are messed up and need good support. Any shoe that I can wear for 12 plus hours (after 15 years of owning them) and my feet don't hurt; those shoes ROCK. My only word of warning: only buy Docs if you really, really like them because you're going to own them for a very long time. These shoes are fantastic to say the very least and last forever. Buy them and your feet will thank you.

First of all, I have to say that I LOVE Zappos! I stumbled upon it when I needed to find size 15 shoes for my 18yr old son. Not only did you have his size, his favorite styles, but they came practically as soon as I clicked the submit button. \r\nMy son loved these shoes. Looking at them, you\'d think they were bulky and stiff, but they\'re not. The
sole is flexible and the leather is very soft. He\'d definitely get
Doc Martens in the future!

I haven't had a pair of
Doc Martens for several years and decided it was way past time. Zappos had the best price, the best selection of a million styles of
Doc Martens (and the easiest size guide from European to US sizes) and free shipping! They arrived really fast and were perfect. Excuse me, but why buy from anywhere else?

I haven't purchased a pair of Doc's for years. My other ones had the "old school"
sole, so these were a bit different. I wasn't sure if I'd like them, but was pleasantly surprised to find them very comfortable (walked all over Ireland on vacation with them with barely any break-in time). The soles are a softer material, but I found this gives them better grip. They also look good and are versatile enough that I wear them with
jeans or even a suit. And what more can I say about Zappos' service? I've used them for years and have only good things to say about this company!

Great shoe. A little tough in the heel for the first few wears, but it softens up nicely. A good style to cross over from
dress to casual.

A Classic In Durability -
These shoes were a replacement for a pair I bought before. These things are durable and comfortable once broke in. For the first month they can be hard on the
heels til they soften up. I wish they made these in half sizes for a little extra comfort, since the next size up was way too large. I think it's a great shoe with its only fault being the break-in period. They seem to last a long time.

Wherever it's made, still a great shoe.
Comfy, sturdy...seems like the ones I used to buy back in the 90s. LOVE the black topstitching. Once you reach 40, that yellow is a bit much! Thanks Zappos for your great service.

The King -
I love these shoes. I am 52 years old. I used to be a Bassist in a rock band and bought my first Docs early in life. Since then I have never looked back. They are truly a hard wearing shoe, and various styles allow you to choose your own image. I bought these 1461 in black stitch. A happy medium between the simple no stitch work style and the yellow stitch. If you have never owned a pair of Docs, you are missing out. I only hope that Doc Marten maintains their quality as the rest of the world moves to “economy” versions of their shoes.

Casual & comfortable shoe for work & play -
I have been wearing Docs for going on 20 years now. I have found them to be both extremely comfortable & durable. The 1461 Dr. Marten shoe is another Doc model that I have found to fall into those two categories. I am on my feet at work quite a bit and this shoe holds up to the extensive walking and standing I do on the job. The shoe is extremely comfortable once broken in and the shoe fits true to size. A comfortable classic in the Dr. Marten tradition.

Great shoes...
1461's are my everyday shoes. Once you break them in, you’re set for yrs. I'm a cook and can be on my feet for 12+ hrs sometimes and my feet still feel good at the
end of the night.

Love Them!
I bought these shoes for my husband for his 50th birthday. He absolutely loves them, and is very impressed with his first pair of
Doc Martens. His only concern is that when the shoes are worn enough that he needs to polish them, the white stitching, which is a large part of the shoe, could turn black from the polish. I told him to email the company and see how to avoid this, other than just by being careful when polishing them. As these shoes will be worn for work at least three times a week, he's certain that they will be extremely durable, as opposed to cheaper versions of
dress casual shoes. I love them...I think they're sexy! :)

Very nice -
These shoes start off hard in the heel, but other than that no complaints. I'm going to order them for decades!

One of thee best shoes ever!!!
A classic, original, and an overall amazing shoe. I can confidently say you won't find a better work shoe (unless you're looking for
steel toe and are doing serious construction work). Great for people that are on their feet all day and the classic look of the 1461 is great looking. The only slight quip about them is that when you first start wearing them you might get a heel burn/blister, which other reviewers have mentioned, but that will fade shortly and after that the leather will soften and create a very nice fit for your foot. I have seen the made in England 1461's and seriously people are making too big of a deal about it. These do the job just fine. A really great shoe and I'm glad they still make them.
