I purchased this bag in black. If you are wanting a bag that makes a statement and is glamorous I do not think this is the bag. I would think if you are a business woman you would like this bag. It is an attractive bag and well made, but the leather is very hard and stiff. I prefer leather that is soft and buttery. The inside has a number of pockets and the lining will not shift as it does in some bags so that is a plus. The strap across the bottom and the legs are nice and the bag will not fall over when set down as some bags do. I will keep the bag, but in person it does not appear as attractive as online. I am hoping that I will grow to really like it.
Brands I'd also recommend: Kate Spade, B Makowsky

OK, so I've been stalking the Florentine Vachetta Satchel for months, then I stumbled across The Smith and ordered them both. Turns out what I wanted was a hybrid of the two and this bag is it! I had to have at least 1 exterior pocket (this this has it on the back), and I needed longer straps to wear the purse on my shoulder. I quickly realized I won't hold a bag in the crook of my elbow or by hand. Plus, the cross-body strap on the Vachetta looks ridiculous in person (the strap is just too narrow). The interior space is identical in all 3 bags. Also, I ended up with the Natural color instead of the Chestnut. While they're both lovely colors, the Natural color will look good year round and won't seem so heavy in the Spring and Summer. Overall, this bag is stunning and beautifully crafted. You won't be disappointed.

I love this bag! I had been looking for a brown bag for a while. I ordered it in Chestnut and the color is beautiful. It's nice and roomy on the inside with several different interior pockets to organize smaller items easily. The leather is a soft quality leather, and even though there is a lot of brass hardware, it doesn't make the bag too heavy. Just love it!
