Inducted into the Footwear News Hall of Fame in 2004, Pliner still designs every pair of shoes himself, carefully screening each new design to ensure perfect fit and function. The Donald J Pliner corporate office and showroom, located on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue, transports visitors inside the highly visual world of the designer's mind. A museum-like presentation of shoes-as-art coexists comfortably with a relaxed living-room-like setting.
And while casual comfort marks the atmosphere of his office, Donald J Pliner is anything but laid back. Nothing goes unnoticed in the world of Donald J Pliner. Colors, shapes and profiles all have meaning. Creative director Lisa Pliner, Donald's wife, works side-by-side with Pliner to develop each new collection, inserting her artist's vision into the designs, colors and textures. The couple’s pure white Maltese, BabyDoll, is an ever-present influence as well. Today, Donald continues to develop an innovative line of luxury comfort footwear, mixing creative energy with ongoing entrepreneurial spirit. The company has expanded to include footwear for men and women, leatherwear for men and women, handbags, and belts. There are five Donald J Pliner concept stores in Miami, Coral Gables, Houston, Las Vegas, and San Jose.

At first I was extremely skeptical about getting these boots considering the negative reviews, but all the negative reviews were complaining about issues that I actually wanted - too narrow of a shaft, narrow shoe, etc. I have skinny calves and average feet, and my issue has always been finding boots thin enough for my body type. These boots are perfect. The size is accurate, I am a 7.5, and the 7.5 in these boots are a perfect fit. The shaft is narrow enough to actually compliment my legs, instead of making them look like twigs. Yes, I will say getting them off the first few times took the help of my husband, but after awhile I could take them off on my own. Additional Notes: If you want to wear thick socks with these boots, then order a half size up. Also, there is another style of Donald J Pliner boot listed that was commented to have poor quality leather, and I want to say the leather quality on this particular boot is great - it does not look like fake leather.

I read the other reviews and was worried about ordering these but needed a slim calf so I gave them a try. I love them! It is hard to get past the ankle the first couple of times but I think that will loosen up with wear (I had a pair of Uggs that did the same thing). I tried them on with jeggings and they looked really cute. Bottom line, if you are slim beneath the knee, buy these!

I read the reviews on this and so ordered a full size bigger so that I could get the boot on. But I still couldn't. Very disappointed as the boot is very nice and expensive. But now I know why -- no one can get them on.

Like the previous reviewer, I tried in vain to get my feet into these. I do not know, however, if the shoe runs narrow (as the last reviewer asserted), as my feet never made it to the bottom of the boot. Unfortunately, the shaft of these boots is so tight that it is impossible to get one's feet to the base of the boot. Because there is no zip and no size handles (as most cowgirl/Western boots have), there are no built in tools to help you get your foot into the boot. Too bad, as the boot is otherwise attractive.

I love Donald Pliner and have several pairs. Someone in their design department really goofed with these boots. I have thin ankles and calfs and could not get my feet or legs in the boots with tights on. The problem is that they needed a zipper or more flexible elastic. I have riding boots that are much easier to get on than these. Surely they should have tested these before they manufactured.
