Deborah Lippmann's career as manicurist to the stars all started with dreams of becoming a jazz singer. She worked various jobs by day and belted out her sultry tunes in the clubs at night. After packing her bags for New York City, Deborah soon solidified her claim to fame by working her magic on an Allure magazine editor. Among her high-profile celebrity clients was Mariah Carey, and for the 1998 Academy Awards, Deborah Lippmann created a custom color called "Satin Doll" just for the songstress. It was then that the Deborah Lippmann Collection was born.
