I do not usually write reviews for items purchased, but I am so pleased with these boots I am making an exception. They are beautiful and the the fit and comfort are excellent.

This wide-shaft boot is a little misleading. It is 18 inches around the top of the boot, up at your knee. But a person's calf is widest about 4-5 inches below the knee. And the boot is tapered so it is not 18 inches, 4-5 inches below the top and it's more like 16. So be aware that this 18 inches measurement is at the tippy-top of the boots anywhere below the top is less. Other than that it's a lovely boot. I love the tooled leather and contrast between the tooled and smooth. It's a nice warm shade of brown. It's got enough of a heel so it's not like you are wearing flats. I recommend it.

There is no way the calf circumference of this boot is 17.5. My calf at the widest point is 16.5 inches and I couldn't zip these up. The footbed also felt uncomfortably hard and tight.

I ordered these a half size up from my original size because my size was sold out. The shaft fit very well, but the shoe part fit a half size too big. I assume then that my size would have fit. These boots are beautifully made and are high quality materials. I am sad that they didn't fit, but I hope they work out for someone else!

I love these boots! I have EE feet and 18 inch calves at the widest part, and they fit perfectly. I had to work a little to zip them up the first couple of wears, but they are not tight at all. I love the way the leather has been tooled, and the ankles fit nicely without sagging. I tried at least 5 pairs before finding these--thanks for the exceptional service, Zappos!

First, the quality of the leather and the workmanship are superb; much better than other David Tate boots I've seen. The tooling is lovely, the sole sturdy but not hard. Foot fit is accurate in length and width. The toe box on the high side, roomy to wiggle toes, but it totally fits the style of the boot. The shaft is why I'm returning these. They aren't wide enough for me. Tate's increase in shaft circumference with width, but I'm big and the EE's didn't work for me. Also, I'm 5'8", and they are a little short for me. If you're voluptuous but not truly big and just need a bit of extra room, I'd take a shot and try them.

I have been searching for wide calf brown boots, and finally found the perfect pair for me. These do not look wide, the leather color is nice, and the detail makes them just a bit different from all the other brown boots that you see.

I absolutely love this pair of boots. They were comfortable from the moment I put them on. The design on the shaft is just enough to give it that Western feel, but the overall look is very current and goes with everything.
