Overall a great bag. Plenty of space to carry a laptop and a few books, but at the same time it isn't too bulky when you only have a few items in it. Seems to be very well made. My only complaint is that there are no pockets on the inside of the bag, and there is only one small zippered pocket on the outside of the bag underneath the flap.
Brands I'd also recommend: Timbuk2, Ful, Manhattan Portage, Ogio,

Great bag. Only issue is no dedicated storage for power cable or other cables needed for a laptop. Comfortable and way easier to carry than a standard bag.

Very happy with both the purchase and Zappos' service/delivery. The interior of the bag is incredibly roomy, I am able to fit all my school books and laptop inside. Very masculine colors and style. Only complaint is lack of organizational pouches inside, other than a small zippered pocket and the laptop partition.

About Dakine
DaKine moved their manufacturing and operations to Hood River, OR in 1986; besides being a popular windsurfing location on the mainland, it´s also a gathering place for the best professional snowboarders looking to ride on Mt. Hood. In 1989, after proving themselves as leaders in surf accessories, gear, and bags, DaKine committed to the rapidly expanding snowboard market with board accessories, board bags, and gear bags. By using their commitment to unique designs, high quality, and the desire to stay true to the spirit of the sport, the company would become the world leader in this market over the next 15 years.
Throughout the 1990s, DaKine moved into the snowsports glove category with a modest three styles, and has now expanded that line to close to 70 models today. In 1996, DaKine introduced the Heli Pack, which helped create the new category of minimalist technical backcountry day packs. In 1998, DaKine sought to surpass the Heli Pack and introduced the Heli Pro. In a short time, the Heli Pro becomes the standard for technical daypacks as well as the sport's best selling (and most copied) model. Also around this time, DaKine moved into skate specific packs, such as the Park Pack, which quickly became known for its innovation and durability.
A true leader in the world of bags, packs, and accessories, DaKine has also built a reputation in the travel category, whether it is board sport specific carriers or luggage. After celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2004, DaKine continues to pride itself on developing products for the top professionals in every board sport and building its reputation for innovation and quality for over a quarter of a century.

I love Dakine bags, but my last one had a zipper that broke on the computer compartment. The thread unraveled. I only had it for a year and a half. Even though they have a lifetime warranty, they made me jump through a million hoops to verify that it wasn't my fault, ie - Pictures - letters - phone calls. Finally I paid to ship it back and it took another month to get a replacement. This was the bag that I replaced it with. I was pretty excited to have a computer bag again, but they made some design changes. For the worse. First, it feels really big for a computer bag. They also moved 2 zipped pockets that lived on the outside of the bag - to the inside. It doesn't sound like much, but now I have to unbuckle and unzip my bag whenever I need to get to the things I like to get to fast. ie - airplane tickets, head phones, phone. They also removed the helpful open pouch that lived on the back. You always had a place to stash stuff like mail or work papers. Now I have to unbuckle to put anything in or take anything out. Again this sounds minor - but a bag shouldn't slow me down - it's a computer bag, It travels on the train, plain, car - it should have easy access to secure compartments. On the upside - they moved the zipped computer compartment to the outside - this should make my like easier in the airport security line. Dakine is a smart brand, their customer service can take some Zapposing though.

I bought this for my 23 year old son when he started his new job. It is roomy without being too bulky and lightweight. The color is more of a denim blue than steel grey but he likes this.

I ordered this bag as a valentine's day gift to my husband and must say he loved it. The bag looks very chic. It is slightly big, but totally love it.
