Great mid-size backpack. I used this pack both as my airplane carry-on and on a two week tour through Israel. It is very versatile with roomy compartments for maps and a camera, sunglasses, a sweatshirt or windbreaker, etc. It has padded, comfortable shoulder straps. Overall, it's sturdy and attractive. I love the pretty peacock feather design and teal color. It’s sophisticated enough for an adult woman, not "girly." Just what I needed.

Because I'm very petite (5'1") I compared bags to see which would be the shortest on my back. The Dakine Garden fits very well on me and doesn't look huge. I have a 13" laptop that fits perfectly in it and if you pack carefully it can really hold a lot. Pros - beautiful pattern, lots of lovely fleecy pockets, comfortable to wear and to hold by the handle, side pockets and front pocket are very convenient - perfect size. CONS - neither.

This is the perfect backpack for an older elementary age girl. It's a little on the small side for Jr. High and older. Would be great for a day pack also. Very well made with lots of extras, like a soft fabric lined pocket and compartments for sunglasses, phone, iPod.

About Dakine
DaKine moved their manufacturing and operations to Hood River, OR in 1986; besides being a popular windsurfing location on the mainland, it´s also a gathering place for the best professional snowboarders looking to ride on Mt. Hood. In 1989, after proving themselves as leaders in surf accessories, gear, and bags, DaKine committed to the rapidly expanding snowboard market with board accessories, board bags, and gear bags. By using their commitment to unique designs, high quality, and the desire to stay true to the spirit of the sport, the company would become the world leader in this market over the next 15 years.
Throughout the 1990s, DaKine moved into the snowsports glove category with a modest three styles, and has now expanded that line to close to 70 models today. In 1996, DaKine introduced the Heli Pack, which helped create the new category of minimalist technical backcountry day packs. In 1998, DaKine sought to surpass the Heli Pack and introduced the Heli Pro. In a short time, the Heli Pro becomes the standard for technical daypacks as well as the sport's best selling (and most copied) model. Also around this time, DaKine moved into skate specific packs, such as the Park Pack, which quickly became known for its innovation and durability.
A true leader in the world of bags, packs, and accessories, DaKine has also built a reputation in the travel category, whether it is board sport specific carriers or luggage. After celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2004, DaKine continues to pride itself on developing products for the top professionals in every board sport and building its reputation for innovation and quality for over a quarter of a century.

Really impressed with this bookbag. Fits my large Dell laptop, a decent amount of my books, a huge sunglasses case, a large wallet, the largest size sigg bottle made, and other random tiny things. Look, if you're trying to carry around 30 pounds of books and whatnot, this is not for you. But if you don't keep a library in your backpack, this will be fine. Very sturdy, cute design, rugged, durable, plenty of spaces for things. Oh, and it's super comfortable.

Beautiful backpack! My 10 year old loves it and it seems very well made. Not overly big though (she has a little trouble fitting her large zip-up 3 ring binder in it), but is a great standard size for school books.

Dakine backpacks are amazing. I have three teenage daughters and these will last for years. I bought this one for my 13 year old and it is a bit too small. I am returning it for a larger style. It is a great backpack though.

This backpack exceeded my expectations. The silhouette is feminine, compact and ergonomic. The padding is comforable and the interior and exterior fabrics are great. I have to carry all my college books everyday, so unfortunately it was too petite. The great news is the customer service. I have never had a more pleasant easy exchange with any vendor. I ended up with the Prom model instead, which gives me the added depth I needed. The new backpack arrived very fast, and Dakine quality is excellent. Thanks Zappos! I will be back!

Love this backpack! Was looking for a pack with a sleeker profile than most to carry around NYC over this past weekend. I was thrilled with how it looks! It's just feminine enough, without being obnoxiously so. And it does have a very sleek profile on your back, so you're not constantly bumping into people with it. It's the perfect size to fit my neck pillow, hoodie and water/snacks for the plane ride. For our journeys into NYC, I packed water/snacks, wallet, sunglasses, spare shoes, etc. Still big enough to get the job done, but small enough to almost forget it was on my back. Just perfect for traveling!

This pack is awesome. We looked for a very long time at more backpacks than I care to remember till my very particular 16 year old came to this one. It is the perfect size for a teen girl, is very well made, and seriously cool.

Purchased for Disney World and Universal Studios. Worked great and even has a waterproof pocket which worked great on the water rides. Comfy straps and was large enough to hold all of the extra items I purchased at every theme park!

I ordered this bag when I needed to get a day pack that was lightweight and large enough to hold a change of clothes and essentials for a quick weekend trip. I chose Zappos because I knew that I would be able to get the bag quickly -- and Zappos came through. This bag had all of the features that I needed: it's lightweight, attractive enough to drag around as I visited tourist attractions, and small enough to shove under a table in a casual restaurant. It's conveniently organized -- and nicely priced. My only complaint -- which does not take away from the quality and features of this bag -- is that I wish it had been a bit larger, since I was using it as an overnight/weekender bag rather than as a day pack or book bag.

I ordered this backpack for my daughter and expected it in a few days with the free shipping. I received an e-mail that said my shipping was being upgraded for free and the backpack was delivered 24 hours after I first placed the order! Awesome!

I'm very pleased with the backpack...plenty of features with a feminine touch. The only item I would add is a key "fob", but I can deal with that. It's also a very comfortable fit as I'm 5'3", petite.

I really like this backpack - it holds a lot, without bulking up. I wish that the sides had zipped pockets instead of mesh ones, so that I could hold things in there more securely. But other than that, it's a trusty backpack, and holds my laptop and everything else I need really well. I've seen this backpack in a lot of different designs at my school, and I can see why, it's just great for college students. The color is just a little darker than in the picture, and the inside is greener, but I really like it.
