Fantastic backpack. Protects laptop, the assortment of pockets helps me organize all of my stuff...very versatile, very durable. I have an older version of this backpack which has withstood something like 8 years of abuse, and I expect this one to do the same. Extremely functional every-day backpack, though probably not ideal for serious hiking. More of a city/school bag.

This backpack is awesome. Lots of pockets. I love the padded laptop pocket and the cooler pocket which keeps my energy drinks cold. The main pocket is very roomy and you can fit a lot of stuff in it. Bottom line is if you want a comfortable backpack that looks cool with a lot of pockets to put all your stuff in, then this is the backpack for you.

My favorite backpack. This bag was just was I wanted: separate padded laptop pocket, roomy main compartment, nice straps, and a handy cold pocket - it can hold 2 cans of soda and more. One of the water bottle pockets is deep enough to stow my mini umbrella. I bought the black.

I am in love with this backpack! It is fairly organized and fits tons of stuff without looking overly bulky, which is exactly what I was looking for. Not to mention the fact that Zappos got it to me in 24 hours! Awesome.

About Dakine
DaKine moved their manufacturing and operations to Hood River, OR in 1986; besides being a popular windsurfing location on the mainland, it´s also a gathering place for the best professional snowboarders looking to ride on Mt. Hood. In 1989, after proving themselves as leaders in surf accessories, gear, and bags, DaKine committed to the rapidly expanding snowboard market with board accessories, board bags, and gear bags. By using their commitment to unique designs, high quality, and the desire to stay true to the spirit of the sport, the company would become the world leader in this market over the next 15 years.
Throughout the 1990s, DaKine moved into the snowsports glove category with a modest three styles, and has now expanded that line to close to 70 models today. In 1996, DaKine introduced the Heli Pack, which helped create the new category of minimalist technical backcountry day packs. In 1998, DaKine sought to surpass the Heli Pack and introduced the Heli Pro. In a short time, the Heli Pro becomes the standard for technical daypacks as well as the sport's best selling (and most copied) model. Also around this time, DaKine moved into skate specific packs, such as the Park Pack, which quickly became known for its innovation and durability.
A true leader in the world of bags, packs, and accessories, DaKine has also built a reputation in the travel category, whether it is board sport specific carriers or luggage. After celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2004, DaKine continues to pride itself on developing products for the top professionals in every board sport and building its reputation for innovation and quality for over a quarter of a century.

I was a bit wary when purchasing this backpack, but only because I love The North Face bags so much. The thing I don't like about the TNF bags is their price. The Dakine Duel bag left nothing to be desired, and did not disappoint at all. I've been very happy with the bag, even more so than I would have with a TNF bag. What I really like is the separate area of laptop / notebook computers. I have a 13" laptop, and it fits very easily into the space. Since it's a separate space, I only have to open the section I want when I'm after the computer. Also, I think the padding for the computer area is better than the TNF padding. The Duel doesn't have as many gizmo sections, but it has enough. As a plus, the cooler area is great to put a lunch or a few cans of "soda" in for those long train rides from work.
Brands I'd also recommend: The North Face, Timbuk2

I bought this backpack for my boyfriend and he loves it! I bought it in black because it's a neutral color and matches well with everything. He goes to college and he says the backpack is so comfortable and has a lot of pockets! Plus delivery was right on time! Definitely recommend!

Great backpack for everyday activity such as school, gym or work. It's real sturdy, fits a lap top while keeping wet clothes away in separate compartment. This backpack is hardcore all around and gets the job done whatever you're up to.

Dakine is a fantastic brand. I've owned many Dakine products from clothes and hats to skate bags/backpacks. They are durable and very well built. The Duel is fantastic! I bought it mainly as an air travel pack and it works wonderfully well. It actually holds my 17 inch laptop. I have to squeeze it in, but it does fit. The insulated compartment keeps beverages cold for a surprisingly long time. I'm talking hours. The pack is very spacious, comfortable, and very sturdy. I would have gladly paid more for this pack. It's well worth the price. Dakine is the only bag/backpack company I would ever buy from.

I bought this backpack for my son who is a senior in high school and has books that weigh a ton! It is incredibly well made, strong and big enough to fit his hefty load. The bonus is having a place to fit his laptop when he heads to college next fall. Thank goodness for Zappos' quick delivery when you cannot find what you need in your neighborhood.
