DaKine moved their manufacturing and operations to Hood River, OR in 1986; besides being a popular windsurfing location on the mainland, it´s also a gathering place for the best professional snowboarders looking to ride on Mt. Hood. In 1989, after proving themselves as leaders in surf accessories, gear, and bags, DaKine committed to the rapidly expanding snowboard market with board accessories, board bags, and gear bags. By using their commitment to unique designs, high quality, and the desire to stay true to the spirit of the sport, the company would become the world leader in this market over the next 15 years.
Throughout the 1990s, DaKine moved into the snowsports glove category with a modest three styles, and has now expanded that line to close to 70 models today. In 1996, DaKine introduced the Heli Pack, which helped create the new category of minimalist technical backcountry day packs. In 1998, DaKine sought to surpass the Heli Pack and introduced the Heli Pro. In a short time, the Heli Pro becomes the standard for technical daypacks as well as the sport's best selling (and most copied) model. Also around this time, DaKine moved into skate specific packs, such as the Park Pack, which quickly became known for its innovation and durability.
A true leader in the world of bags, packs, and accessories, DaKine has also built a reputation in the travel category, whether it is board sport specific carriers or luggage. After celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2004, DaKine continues to pride itself on developing products for the top professionals in every board sport and building its reputation for innovation and quality for over a quarter of a century.

I really like this bag. It is beautiful, for one. It holds a ton of stuff, for two. I keep my laptop in one pocket, my files in another and all my odds and ends in the main, very wide, pocket. I've stuffed it and still got it closed - zippered and closed! My old briefcase couldn't do as well. Someone here said they got a 17" laptop in here but I'm not sure how - it is perfect for a standard 15". I would buy this bag again.

I LOVE this bag! I have been trying several different bags for the past 2 years and finally found one that fits all of my needs. Because of the structure of this bag, I can carry my school work, work documents and books, lunch, water bottle, coffee cup, etc. without it ever appearing bulky. The bag is incredibly sturdy. Although it adds weight to the shoulder, it feels as though the bag is carrying some of that weight for you. I work for a ski resort so I need something waterproof as well as durable. The bag is insulated and thick, so to rest it in snow for a short period will be okay without worrying about what's inside. The shoulder pad sometimes twists around which then causes the strap to twist, but with some patience, it can be fixed. Finally, even though I can carry so much in the bag, with the added flap to clasp over the top, it always looks tidy. I can stuff it as much as I want, zip up all of the pockets, and then clasp the flap shut. Overall, best bag I have ever owned.

Ordered this as a work bag for my 15.6 inch laptop. Since it says it fits most 15 inch laptops I wasn't sure it mine would fit, but it did with room to spare. I love the fabric. It is really pretty without being too girlie. I am a professional and using this to transport my work computer. The other pocket (non Laptop) is spacious and I am able to carry all my work papers, pens, notepads with room to spare. This is my first Dakine item and I am pleased with the quality.

I've had this bag for about a month and used it on a couple of business trips. Overall, it's a great bag in terms of style, size and comfort. I love that there are 2 distinct pockets inside, and that the top zips closed so none of my stuff moves around or slides out and my laptop is protected. Also the adjustable cross body strap is great, as is the baggage strap so I can slide it over my luggage handle. I was worried that the material or bag structure wouldn't be sturdy enough (I'm pretty hard on my carry-on bags), but it seems like it's going to be great, and you can't beat the price. The 3 complaints I have are minor, and wouldn't prevent me from buying again. First, the front clasp is purely decorative, and won't stay closed. No big deal since the inside is zipped up anyway, but if you're expecting the clasp to actually stay closed, it doesn't really. The second complaint is that there should be a quick grab handle on the top of the bag. When I need to pull it out from under the seat on the plane, or pull it off the luggage handle, the only way to grab it is to use the long strap, or use both hands to grab hold. Just a small handle on top would be a big help. Last, related to the second, it is a little awkward to slide off and on a luggage handle. The slide pocket is a tight fit, and because there's no quick-grab handle, it actually requires both hands to wriggle it on and off my luggage. Overall though, I'm very pleased with the bag! As for styling, I think it's just fun enough to be cool and different while still being professional. It's exactly what I wanted.

Really nice bag. Agree that it would be nice to have a "handle" on top. I'm a flight attendant and my bags go through a lot and this one is holding up well. Like the bright interior, easier to find things and space for my iPad is perfect and offers great protection. Love the houndstooth print as we are only allowed to carry black bags! At least mine has a pattern! Carry several small cosmetic bags in it along with iPad, book, pens etc. plenty of room.
